Teaching Dates Quarter Fourth Quarter
and Time

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate understanding of uniformly
A. Content Standards accelerated motion, motion in two-dimensions using
projectile motion as example, impulse and momentum, and
conservation of linear momentum.
The learners should be able to propose ways to enhance
B. Performance Standards sports related to projectile motion.

Investigate the relationship between the angle of release and

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives the height and range of the projectile.
Write the LC code for each S9FE-IVa-35
Investigate the horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile
Specific Objectives:

Projectile Motion : Angle

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. References Science 9 Learner’s Module

1. Teacher’s Guide pages pp. 181-185
2. Learner’s Material pages p. 249-256
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from PPT Projectile Motion, Video Clip, Learners Activity Sheet,
Learning Resource (LR) portal PhET Simulation

B. Other Learning Resources Conceptual Science and Beyond 9

IV. PROCEDURES
ELICIT (5min.)
A. Reviewing previous lesson or (Higher Order Thinking Skills Questions)
presenting the new lesson Drill/ Recall their knowledge about free falling bodies.
1. How does gravity work?
2. What is the acceleration due to gravity on earth?
3. What is free fall?
4. What happen to the velocity when you throw a ball
upward?

ENGAGE (5min.)
B. Establishing a purpose for the (video clip)
lesson Ask: What are the different kinds of motions demonstrated in
the video?”
C. Presenting examples/instances Tell students that they have seen several projectile motion in
of the new lesson the video. Ex. When a basketball player aim for a three-point
shot, when a pitcher throw the ball and when the ping pong
was hit by a racket. Projectile motion will serve as an example
of motion in two-dimension.

(Presentation of objectives)
Objectives:
The learners should be able to:
• Describe the horizontal and vertical motions of a
projectile.
• Identify the factors that determine the projectile’s
flight.
• Determine the other factors that may affect the
motion of objects.
EXPLORE (15min.)
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #1 Group activity:
Activity 1: “PhET” Simulation: Projectile Motion”
E. Discussing new concepts and Designing the Activity:
practicing new skills #2  Divide the class into groups (mixed boys and girls)
 Distribute the Learning Activity Sheet to the students:
 Read the instructions reflected on your LAS.
 Using the given materials, follow the set up procedure.
Refer to Learners Activity Sheet.

EXPLAIN (15min.)
F. Developing mastery Group reporting:
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3)  Each group will present their data to the class.
 Let the other groups compare and analyze their results.
 Ask students to generate a conclusion from their result.
Guide questions
Inspect the values you get. Based on the data in Table 1,
plot the points in a graph. (Literacy and Numeracy Skills)

1. Based on the graph above, describe the height when

the object is projected at different angles?
2. At what angle did the object reaches the greatest
height?
3. What is the relation of the angle of release to the
height reached by the object?
4. Describe the Range (horizontal distance) when the
object is projected at different angles?
5. At what angle did the object gives the greatest Range
(horizontal distance)? the shortest Range (horizontal
distance)?
6. What is the relation of the angle of release to Range
(horizontal distance) covered by the object?
7. Describe the time of travel when the object is
projected at different angles?
8. At what angle the object gives the longest time of
travel? the shortest time of travel?
9. What is the relation of the angle of release to time off
travel of an object?
10. Which factor in the projectile’s trajectory is affected
when you change the initial speed?
11. How do you relate the initial speed of the projectile to
the height and range of the projectile’s trajectory?

ELABORATE (10min)
G. Finding practical applications of Show some video clips on youth sports events. (Video Clips)
concepts and skills in daily living Let the students observe the different kind of motion
demonstrated.
H. Making generalizations and What are the two- dimensional motions you have noticed from
abstractions about the lesson the sports events?
EVALUATE
I. Evaluating learning Result of the activity serves as the evaluation for
learning.

Rubrics will be used to evaluate learning:

The rubric for the activity is accuracy is 40 points, If
you finish on time you have 10 points and teamwork is
10 points. A total of 60 points.

EXTEND
J. Additional activities for application or (Mapeh- Arts Integration) (HOTS)
remediation Draw a situation about a projectile projected at an angle.
Explain your drawing.

formative assessment
B. No of learners who require additional
activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies
worked well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which
my principal or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials
did I use/discover which I wish to share
with other teachers?
