    Before a tow is handed over or accepted, the tow is to be inspected. The master and /or
    the chief officer conduct this inspection. This list is produced in duplicate, one for the
    WagKaz vessel and one for the other vessel.

    The following items are to be inspected: OK NA


    Are all watertight doors and hatches closed?

    Are no holes found which can affect the buoyancy of the object?

    Is everything on board of the towed object is secured (if possible/applicable)?

    Is there sufficient (navigation) lighting aboard the towed object?

    Is the emergency towing gear available?

    If available; are the pumps and auxiliary engines of the tow checked and it is
    known how to use them?
    Are no oil or other harmful substances leaking on the barge? (no hazard for the
    environment)
    Is the stability of the towed object sufficient?

    Is the draft/trim within the safety margins for this journey?

    Are the anchor(s) secured?

    Is the deck cleared of loose equipment/lines?

    Are all certificates available and valid? (see attached list)

    Is the towing bridle properly connected and visually inspected?

    When barge is manned are the procedures known by them and communication
    lines clear?

    The certificates and survey reports are to be available and valid before towing the vessel.
    If certain items are not applicable they can be crossed out of the list.

    being applicable for the type of barge, the master is to consult the marine
    supervisor, for further actions.

    The master of the above-mentioned WagKaz vessel declares that the tow can be towed
    safely in the circumstances known at the time of filling in this checklist.
