Chairman : Welcome by the head master.

Head master : Dear writer, who has come to our


school`s annual day as the Chief Guest, the Chairman Mr.
Tahsildar, colleagues and my dear students. Nearly after
ten months, now the annual day is being celebrated. This
function takes place every year. This function takes place
for bidding farewell to the old faces. On this occasion we
requested the famous Kannada writer to say a few good
words. He agreed to our request and came here. He is
with us. With a request to say a few words that are useful
to our student`s future life. I welcome him as the chief
guest of this function. Tahsildar is like administrative pulse
of this town. He has helped in our programmes directly
and indirectly. He has come to our function by finding
time in his schedule. He will address all of you. I welcome
him to this annual day function. The students, teachers,
parents and public have come to this function. I welcome
all of them. I welcome all of you once again and request
you all to help us to celebrate the annual day nicely.
Chairman: Chief guest`s address.
Chief guest: Mr. Chairman, Head master, students, elders and
friends. When I was invited to this annual day function, I agreed to come, not
because I am a writer, but because I was a student in this school for three
years, Earlier the annual day was not celebrated with a bang. On the last
day of the school the Head master was telling us few selected sentences of
Mahatma Gandhi in the seminar hall. After this half an hour speech, another
teacher would explain those words for an hour. At the end of the function we
used to take an oath to follow the path of truth and discipline. With that the
function used to end. Today also the annual day is taking place, but the
content is different.

We have created a situation in which we are afraid of reading the


newspaper, listening to the news everyday. Today the values for which
Gandhiji lived are slowly vanishing, may be because of passage of time. It
should not happen like this. My advice is that you please read Gandhiji`s
writing whenever you are free. Do not forget after reading. Read and bring it
into practice. Then the environment in which we are living may become
livable. With these words. I close my speech. I am grateful to the staff of this
school and to you for inviting me to attend this function and to speak to you.

their speeches. Also they quote him to support their
words. This is a matter of pride to all of us. Let all of us
live as Mahtma Gandhiji said. With these words, I close
my speech. Thank you.

know of the plan. She was frightened. Udai Singh was
dear to her and she made up her mind to save the
prince who was the last hope of the Rana family.
When she looked at the innocent child, who was fast
asleep, she wanted to save him.

Suddenly Panna saw a way of saving him.


She had a son of her own. He was of the same age as
Udai Singh. She made up her mind to sacrifice her
son to save the prince. She dressed her son like the
prince and put her son on Udai Singh`s bed. She then
asked an old trusted servant to take away the prince
at once.
