Introduction

A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to a

defined community for reference or borrowing.[1] It provides physical or digital access to material, and
may be a physical building or room, or a virtual space, or both.[2] A library's collection can
include books, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, films, maps, prints, documents, microform, CD
s, cassettes, videotapes, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, e-books, audiobooks, databases, and other formats.
Libraries range in size from a few shelves of books to several million items. In Latin and Greek, the
idea of a bookcase is represented by Bibliotheca and Bibliothēkē (Greek: βιβλιοθήκη): derivatives of
these mean library in many modern languages, e.g. French bibliothèque.
A library is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, a corporation, or a
private individual. Public and institutional collections and services may be intended for use by people
who choose not to—or cannot afford to—purchase an extensive collection themselves, who need
material no individual can reasonably be expected to have, or who require professional assistance
with their research. In addition to providing materials, libraries also provide the services
of librarians who are experts at finding and organizing information and at interpreting information
needs. Libraries often provide quiet areas for studying, and they also often offer common areas to
facilitate group study and collaboration. Libraries often provide public facilities for access to their
electronic resources and the Internet.
Modern libraries are increasingly being redefined as places to get unrestricted access
to information in many formats and from many sources. They are extending services beyond the
physical walls of a building, by providing material accessible by electronic means, and by providing
the assistance of librarians in navigating and analyzing very large amounts of information with a
variety of digital resources. Libraries are increasingly becoming community hubs where programs
are delivered and people engage in lifelong learning. As community centers, libraries are also
becoming increasingly important in helping communities mobilize and organize for their rights. The
relationship between librarianship and human rights works to ensure that the rights of cultural
minorities, immigrants, the homeless, the disabled, LGBTQ community, as well as other
marginalized groups are not infringed upon as protected in the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights.

A college library management is a project that manages and stores books information
electronically according to students needs. The system helps both students and library manager
to keep a constant track of all the books available in the library. It allows both the admin and the
student to search for the desired book. It becomes necessary for colleges to keep a continuous
check on the books issued and returned and even calculate fine. This task if carried out manually
will be tedious and includes chances of mistakes. These errors are avoided by allowing the
system to keep track of information such as issue date, last date to return the book and even fine
information and thus there is no need to keep manual track of this information which thereby
avoids chances of mistakes.
Thus this system reduces manual work to a great extent allows smooth flow of library activities
by removing chances of errors in the details.

The major Project was designed to approach the aims and solve the problems which book readers
are dealing with when it comes to Library; it covers the design, implementation and solutions.
What caught my interested in this project is the desire to help and or facilitate the iterations
between the Libraries and the readers, as we can see in nowadays when we go to the library we
do not know if the book that we want is there and if it is available, thenceforth that is why I aim
to build an Enterprise Application that will help the libraries and readers in the future. In this
document I will describe witch technologies I will use, the data base structure, programming
language and all the diagrams which will explain each process or workflow that is implemented
in the application. At the end of this project the application that I have built will help and or
facilitate the communication among Libraries and readers.

Objectives
Objectives

The main objective of the Library Management system is discipline of the

planning, organizing and managing the library tasks. Our project aims at making the
task of library easy. Library Management is entering the records of new book and
retrieving the details of book available in the library. We can issue book to the
library member and maintain their records and can also checks how many book are
issued and stock available in the library. In the project we can maintain the late fine
of library member who return the issued book after the due date.
Purpose of System

In the proposed system, we assume that each member will be having a identity
card which can be used for the library book issue, fine payment etc. whenever
library member wish to take a book, the book issued by the library authority will
be check both the book details as well as the student details and store it in library
database. In case of retrieval of book much of human intervention can be
eliminated.

Conclusion
Library Management Program has been created keeping in mind the needs of Small and
Medium scale libraries. It’s efficient software that includes all the basic functionalities like
making data entries for new books, newspapers and magazines, registering a new user, editing
and deleting records that are required for smooth functioning of a library. Additionally the user
login and book history are also stored and can be accessed by the administrator. It also
facilitates the librarian to create new user groups and edit their access levels and functions (like
that of the assistants). Apart from this the general users are also given the rights to not only
keep track of the books that they have issued and fines due but they too can search for the
books/magazines/newspapers that interest them
