A. Drawing and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions, and Section 220001“General Provisions for Mechanical Work “ , apply to
this Section.
A. Units shall bear ARI labels certifying conformance to ARI-440 or equivalent certification.
C. Noise level of fan coil units shall not exceed NC 38 at high fan speed or NC 35 at
medium fan, assuming a room effect not greater than 4 db.
1.3 SUBMITTAL
A. Product Data:
B. Wiring Diagrams:
Submit ladder type wiring diagrams for power and control wiring required for final
installation of fan coil units and controls. Clearly differentiate between portions of
wiring that are factory installed and portions to be field installed.
Submit maintenance data and parts list for each fan coil unit, control, and accessory;
including "trouble shooting" maintenance guide; plus servicing, and preventative
maintenance procedures and schedule. Include this data and product data in
maintenance manual.
A. Handle fan coil units and components carefully to prevent damage. Follow
manufacturer's written instructions for rigging. Replace damaged fan coil units or
components.
B. Store fan coil units and components in clean dry place off the ground. Protect from

C. Factory equip fan coil unit with protective covers which shall remain in place
immediately after installation, prior to start up, to protect coil, fans bearings and motors
from damage due to dust infiltration during construction.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 GENERAL
A. 220 volt/ 1 phase /50 Hz., 2 pipe fan coil units as per drawing schedule.
B. A reinforced galvanized steel basic casing assembly, internally sound and thermally
insulated with neoprene coated, blanket type, glass fiber insulation meeting with
requirements of NFPA 90A and flame spread and smoke developed fire hazard ratings
of ASTM E-84.
C. A removable galvanized steel fan board assembly with double width, centrifugal,
forward curved, formed aluminum fan wheels with galvanized steel housing, direct
connected to a 3 speed, tap wound, permanent split capacitor motors.
D. Factory tested chilled water coil with aluminum fins permanently bonded to copper
tubes, and a factory installed manual air vent on the return connection side. Coils shall
be suitable for a minimum working pressure of 1380 kpa.
E. Nichrome element, UL approved, electric heating coil operating at the same voltage
as the fan coil unit, interlocked with fan motor switch, and complete with high
temperature cut out with automatic reset.
F. A full length drain pan located under the coil, and an auxiliary drain pan located
under the coil piping connections, both constructed of galvanized steel, pitched for
positive drainage, and insulated with closed cell insulation meeting NFPA 90A
requirements, and flame spread and smoke developed fire hazard ratings of ASTM E-
84.
G. A minimum 150mm long length of factory installed flexible condensate drain piping.
I. A filter back with disposable removable glass fiber air filter and suction duct
connection collar, a front discharge duct connection collar, and rubber grommetted
mounting holes for hanger rod connections for horizontal exposed units.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 TESTING AND INSPECTION
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. General:
3.3 COMMISSIONING
A. Carry out static check on fans, setting of controls and electrical connections to
ensure conditions are safe prior to start up.
B. Operate units to ensure all control components and switches function correctly.
3.4 CLEANING
A. Prior to start up of unit vacuum clean the interior of all cabinets including coils and
filters.
1. Examine and ensure that all air coils have been installed in the correct manner
fully in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendation.
2. With fans operating check and rectify all problems associated with air distribution
and noise.
3. Check and correct air leakage around edges of air heaters.
3.6 DEMONSTRATION
B. Start up fan coil units, in accordance with manufacturer's start up instructions. Test
controls and demonstrate compliance with requirements. Replace damaged or
malfunctioning controls and equipment.
