Quote of the Month:

No one is in charge of Changing Seasons
your happiness but
you. GOD’S GLORY

The seasons have changed here, in Rangeley, Maine. The birch, maple, oak
and aspen are in the process of changing from their summer green to their fall

11 John Owen As I look at the beauty of this region I am reminded of the biblical phrase
13 Patty McAlexander “And the Glory of the Lord shown around them”. Different place, different
setting, different context; but, the Glory of the Lord is here none the less.
19 David Youngblood

31 Al Heath Silently, sitting on the porch, facing the lake with the rising sun peeping over
the mountains makes His Glory so evident. Reminds me that God’s Glory is
always around us because he is responsible for all of creation, we included.
October Anniversaries So, when we look around, whether quietly or hurriedly moving from talk to
task, all that we see is part of God’s Glory.

4 Rob & Margaret Hall Take a moment and look at the steel and glass buildings; the twisting, turning
roadways; the colors and shapes of the automobiles – all part of God’s Glory
10 Al & Carol Heath and Creation.

22 Jimmy & Take another moment and look at your children; your spouse; the food
Carla Beckendorff prepared for you and all the neighbors we are called upon to love: More of
God’s Glory.
23 Stephen &
Ruth Johnson Look at the blue sky; the green grass; the rivers; the birds flying overhead; the
sun, moon and stars. And as always, look at St. John’s, Sealy with its
beautifully colored windows. These are always a reminder of God’s Glory.

Here’s the Scoop:

• Elise has a part in the Junior High School play!
• Andrea and Elise had a Mom and Daughter Weekend
with Girl Scouts. The girls went horseback riding and
became a Cadette Girl Scout at a special ceremony.
Each girl received a silver key from their moms to
symbolize that they are the key to the future.
• Pastor Eric and Mary Lou LeBrocq are vacationing in
Maine with family.

News from the Diocese

Bishops Conference
You are invited to join others within our diocese to participate in The Bishops’
Conference on Outreach. The congregations of the Diocese of Texas have a
long heritage of outreach ministries.
Building on that heritage we hope to spend some time looking at new ways to
do outreach and to seek a better understanding of how we serve. Our Diocesan
Outreach ministries have put together a great program of learning, motivation
and sharing for church members who have a passion for ministry.
Heads of congregations are asked to help see that representatives from your
churches attend the Outreach Conference to learn, share and be empowered
for service. This is a vital opportunity to change lives and identify those gifts
that your ministry may have to share with your community.
Who should attend? Congregational outreach representatives, vestry members
with responsibility for mission and/or outreach, youth leaders, anyone with a
passion to serve and understand outreach would benefit from this gathering.

the garlic doesn’t brown. Add onion and, stirring frequently,
continue cooking for about 8 minutes or until the onion is soft and
golden. Add tomatoes, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce
heat to low and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add
fresh basil and simmer 5 minutes longer. This recipe yields about 6

Please do not forget your pledge cards October 3. We will present our gifts to the
altar during the Offertory Hymn. There will be additional cards available at church if
needed.

Thank you to John, Brian and Billy for making pancakes on Rally Sunday.

Go to the Parish House to see our continued progress! Thank you to Lianne and
Susie and all who worked so hard. Everything looks great!

I went to our Archives and found Tom Johnson’s spaghetti sauce recipe. Next month
will be Rosemary Larson’s pumpkin pie. If you have a recipe you would like to have
published in The Chimes, send it to Andrea Ford.
