Part II: Reflection
CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
The field experience involved looking at the current School Improvement Plan and creating a
vision for Hapeville Elementary School. A rationale was provided to explain why the vision was
generated. Following the vision, it was important to conduct a SWOT analysis that highlighted the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. These components were derived by the relation
they had to the ISTE Essential Conditions. The final task was to design an action/evaluation plan
that provides the staff at HES with the appropriate strategies, resources and steps to progress with
effective technology integration.
I gained a different perspective on technology integration and how I view issues that plague
schools and instruction. This field experienced provided me the opportunity to look at a situation
and be more solution oriented. As a classroom teacher, there were more times than not where we
had to analyze issues or challenges that take place within the school. Though we would derive
solutions, it never felt as though we focused on the aspect more than the challenges themselves.
As far as technology integration, this field experience gave me an opportunity to work step by step
in planning an effective way to integrated technology. Through the steps of creating this plan, I
was able to view all components that impacts effective technology integration.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
Knowledge- As a technology leader, it is imperative that you know how the school you are
supporting is handling student achievement, the goals the school has to increase student
achievement and how they to achieve those goals. This will give a better understanding of how to
effectively integrate technology.
Skills- As a technology leader, you need the skills to unpack information and use it to develop a
plan that can be used to meet the overall goal. It is also important to be skillful in appropriate and
effective technology integration so that technology is used purposefully and aligns to the plans
that are already set in place.
Disposition- As a technology leader, there are many factors that play a part in making decisions
that best support the goals that are already set in place within the strategic plan. You must keep
students and their achievement at the center. In doing so, creating a vision, conducting the analysis
and developing an action plan becomes beneficial.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This field experience took place during the summer. Due to the time of the field experience, I am
unable to truly state has it impacted school improvement now. Nevertheless, it is my plan to share
this information with the administration at Hapeville Elementary. It is the expectation that the
work I produced will assist in the school moving forward when it comes to integrating technology.
The improvement the school makes because of the work will be able to be assessed during the
school year. I plan to support with any additional work that will assist the school in meeting any
goals.
