Hadith 1
When Allah decreed the creation, he wrote in his Book with him on his
Throne: My mercy prevails over my wrath.

Hadith 2
Jundub reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Hadith 3
Allah the Exalted said: My servant has committed a sin and he knows he
has a Lord who forgives sins and holds him accountable.
Then the servant returned to his sin and he said: O Allah, forgive my sin!
Allah said: My servant has committed a sin and he knows he has a Lord
who forgives sins and holds him accountable.
Then the servant returned to his sin and he said: O Allah, forgive my sin!
Allah said: My servant has committed a sin and he knows he has a Lord
who forgives sins and holds him accountable, so do what you will for I
have forgiven you.

Hadith 4
Allah the Exalted said: O son of Adam, if you call upon me and place your
hope in me, I will forgive you without any reservation. O son of Adam,
if you have sins piling up to the clouds and then ask for my forgiveness, I
will forgive you without any reservation. O son of Adam, if you come to
me with enough sins to fill the earth and you meet me without associating
a partner with me, I will come to you with enough forgiveness to fill the
earth.

Hadith 5
Some Sabi (i.e. war prisoners, children and woman only) were brought
before the Prophet and behold, a woman amongst them was milking her
breasts to feed and whenever she found a child amongst the captives, she
took it over her chest and nursed it
(she had lost her child but later she found him)

Hadith 8
“Shall I tell you something that will make your palaces in Paradise higher
and that would raise you in degrees.” They said “Yes.” He replied “To be
forgiving and to control one’s self in the face of someone who provokes
you. To forgive a person who was unfair or unjust to you, to give someone
in need who did not give you when you were in need and to keep contact
with someone even though they did not reciprocate it

Hadith 9
One day when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and give
him peace, was seated [amongst us], we saw him laugh and laugh
until his teeth were showing. ¡Umar asked: “What makes you laugh,
O Messenger of God, you for whom I would give my own father
and mother?”
He replied: “Two men of my community were kneeling before the Lord of
Might, ever exalted is He, and one of them said: ‘O my Lord,
retrieve for me what my brother has wrongfully taken from me!’
He said [to the accused]: ‘Give back to your brother what you
have wrongfully taken from him.’
‘But my Lord,’ he replied, ‘nothing of merit has been left to me.’
‘Then my Lord,’ said [the frst], ‘let him carry some of my burden.’ ”
The eyes of the Messenger of God, may God give him blessings and peace, filled
with tears, and he said: “Indeed that is a fearful day, when people will need someone
to carry part of their burden.” Then he continued:
“And God, ever mighty and majestic is He, said to the plaintiff:
‘Raise your head and look towards the Gardens of Paradise.’
He raised his eyes and exclaimed: ‘My Lord, I see cities of silver
and palaces of gold, crowned with pearls. To which prophet or martyr does it
belong?’
God replied: ‘It belongs to whoever pays Me the price.’
He asked: ‘And who, my Lord, will own it?’
God replied: ‘You will.’
He asked: ‘But how shall I do that, my Lord?’
God replied: ‘By pardoning your brother.’
He said: ‘My Lord, I have already pardoned him!’
God, ever exalted is He, said: ‘Now take your brother by the hand,
and lead him into Paradise.’ ”
Then the Messenger of God added:
“Fear God, and promote peace and reconciliation amongst yourselves,
for surely God shall establish peace among the faithful on
the Day of Resurrection.”
“Allah comes to the believer, on the day of judgement, closely then places
a veil over the rest of creation and says, “I do recite to know each sin, Do
you know? Do you realise?” He replies, “Yes, Yes.” Then the servant turns
to his right then left. “No harm will come to you my servant, I have veiled
you from all my creation. There is no one between me or who could read
your sins other than me. I have forgiven you all your sins that you have
come with.” He said, “How, O Lord?”
He replies, “As you did not hope for forgiveness from another
other than Me.”
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“A man sinned greatly against himself, and when death came to him he
charged his sons, saying: ‘When I have died, burn me, then crush me and
scatter [my ashes] into the sea, for, by Allah, if my Lord takes possession
of me, He will punish me in a manner in which He has punished no one
[else].’ So they did that to him.
“Allah does not show mercy to him who does not show mercy to people.”

Hadith 16
Al-Aqra ibn Habis saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
kissing his grandson Hasan. He said, “I have ten children and I do not kiss
any of them.” The Prophet said, “Verily, whoever does not show mercy will
not receive mercy.”

Hadith 17
A man asked Ibn `Umar, “What did you hear Allah’s Apostle saying
regarding An-Najwa (secret talk between Allah and His believing worship-
per on the Day of Judgment)?”

Hadith 18
On the authority of Uqbah ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with him),
who said:
I heard the messenger of Allah say: Your Lord delights at a shepherd who,
on the peak of a mountain crag, gives the call to prayer and prays. Then
Allah (glorified and exalted be He) say: Look at this servant of Mine, he
gives the call to prayer and performs the prayers; he is in awe of Me. I have
forgiven My servant [his sins] and have admitted him to Paradise.
On the authority of son of Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both),
from the Messenger of Allah, among the sayings he related from his Lord
(glorified and exalted be He) is that He said:
Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He
explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a good deed and has
not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if
he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as
from ten good deeds to seven hundred times, or many times over. But if
he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with
Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah
writes it down as one bad deed.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah said:
If Allah has loved a servant [of His] He calls Gabriel (on whom be peace)
and says: I love So-and-so, therefore love him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said:
So Gabriel loves him. Then he (Gabriel) calls out in heaven, saying: Allah
loves So-and-so, therefore love him. And the inhabitants of heaven love
him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said: Then acceptance is established for him
on earth. And if Allah has abhorred a servant [of His], He calls Gabriel and
says: I abhor So-and-so, therefore abhor him. So Gabriel abhors him. Then
Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven: Allah abhors So-and-so,
therefore abhor him. He (the Prophet pbuh) said: So they abhor him, and
abhorrence is established for him on earth.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah said:
Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: If My servant likes to meet Me,
I like to meet him; and if he dislikes to meet Me, I dislike to meet him.
Prophetic explanation of this Sacred Hadith: He who likes to meet Allah,
Allah likes to meet him; and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes
to meet him. Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Prophet of
Allah, is it because of the dislike of death, for all of us dislike death? The
Prophet (pbuh) said: It is not so, but rather it is that when the believer
is given news of Allah’s mercy, His approval and His Paradise, he likes to
meet Allah and Allah likes to meet him; but when the unbeliever is given
news of Allah’s punishment and His displeasure, he dislikes to meet Allah
and Allah dislikes to meet him.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who
said that the Messenger of Allah said:
Our Lord (glorified and exalted be He) descends each night to the earth’s
sky when there remains the final third of the night, and He says: Who is
saying a prayer to Me that I may answer it? Who is asking something of
Me that I may give it him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me that I may
forgive him?
On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) from the
Prophet who said:
The believers will gather together on the Day of Resurrection and will say:
Should we not ask [someone] to intercede for us with our Lord? So they
will come to Adam and will say: You are the Father of mankind; Allah
created you with His hand, He made His angels bow down to you and He
taught you the names of everything, so intercede for us with your Lord so
that He may give us relief form this place where we are.
And he will say: I am not in a position [to do that] - and he will mention
his wrongdoing and will feel ashamed and will say: Go to Noah, for he is
the first messenger that Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth. So they
will come to him and he will say: I am not in a position [to do that] - and
he will mention his having requested something of his Lord about which
he had no [proper] knowledge (Quran Chapter 11 Verses 45-46), and he
will feel ashamed and will say: Go to the Friend of the Merciful (Abra-
ham).
So they will come to him and he will say: I am not in a position [to do
that]. Go to Moses, a servant to whom Allah talked and to whom He gave
the Torah.
So they will come to him and he will say: I am not in a position [to do
that] - and he will mention the taking of a life other that for a life (Quran
Chapter 28 Verses 15-16), and he will feel ashamed in the sight of his Lord
and will say: Go to Jesus, Allah’s servant and messenger, Allah’s word and
spirit.
So they will come to him and he will say: I am not in a position [to do
that]. Go to Muhammad (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon
him), a servant to whom Allah has forgiven all his wrongdoing, past and
future.
So they will come to me and I shall set forth to ask permission to come
to my Lord, and permission will be given, and when I shall see my Lord
I shall prostrate myself. He will leave me thus for such time as it pleases
Him, and then it will be said [to me]: Raise your head. Ask and it will be
granted. Speak and it will be heard. Intercede and your intercession will
be accepted. So I shall raise my head and praise Him with a form of praise
that He will teach me. Then I shall intercede and He will set me a limit [as
to the number of people], so I shall admit them into Paradise. Then I shall
return to Him, and when I shall see my Lord [I shall bow down] as be-
fore. Then I shall intercede and He will set me a limit [as to the number of
people]. So I shall admit them into Paradise. Then I shall return for a third
time, then a fourth, and I shall say: There remains in Hell-fire only those
whom the Qur’an has confined and who must be there for eternity. There
shall come out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah and
who has in his heart goodness weighing a barley-corn; then there shall
come out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah and who
has in his heart goodness weighing a grain of wheat; then there shall come
out of Hell-fire he who has said: There is no god but Allah and who has in
his heart goodness weighing an atom.
“There was a man before you who had killed ninety nine people and then
asked the learned people of the earth about salvation. He was directed to a
monk. He came to him and told him that he had killed ninety nine people
and he asked him whether there was any possibility of his repentance being
accepted. The monk said no, so he killed him and thus completed
his hundredth murder.
He then asked again about the learned people of the earth and he was di-
rected to a scholar, and he told him that he had killed one hundred people
and he asked him whether there was any possibility of his repentance being
accepted. The scholar said: Yes, what stands between you and repentance?
You should go to this land as there are people devoted to prayer and wor-
ship and you should worship alongside them and do not go to your land as
it is a land of evil. So he went away and he did not cover half the distance
when death came to him.
There was a dispute between the angel of mercy and the angel of punish-
ment. The angel of mercy said: This man has come to Allah repenting and
remorseful, and the angel of punishment said: This man has done no good
at all. Then there came another angel in the form of a human in order to
judge between them. Allah said: Measure the land to which he has drawn
near. They measured it and found him nearer to the land of piety, so the
angel of mercy took possession of him.”

Hadith 27

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Allah’s Messenger,
peace be upon him, said:
Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him,
said, “A prostitute had once been forgiven. She passed by a dog panting
near a well. Thirst had nearly killed him, so she took off her sock, tied it to
her veil, and drew up some water. Allah forgave her for that.”

Hadith 28
The Prophet said that “One of the signs of excellence of one’s worship is
thinking well of Allah .”

Hadith 29
On the day of the Battle of Uhud, the face of the Prophet, allallaahu
`alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), was injured and his
front teeth were damaged. The Companions took it with great difficulty
and told the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his
mention ), to supplicate against the disbelievers. However, the Prophet,
sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ), said: “I was
not sent as an invoker of curses. Rather, I was sent as a mercy.”

Hadith 31
By the one in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you
submit, and you will not submit until you love one another. Greet each
other with peace and you will love one another. Beware of hatred, for it is
the razor. I do not say it shaves hair, but rather it shaves away the religion.
{ Adab al Mufrad }
Another Version:
There have come to you the diseases of the nations before you: envy and
hatred, and hatred is the razor. It shaves the religion and it does not shave
hair. By the one in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will not
believe until you love one another. Shall I tell you something which, if you
did, you would love each other? Spread peace between yourselves.

Hadith 32
Moses said: Who is the best in judgment of your servants? Allah said:
Those who judge people as they would love to be judged themselves.
Moses said: Who are the most honored of your servants? Allah said: Those
who forgive when they have power over others.
“Verily, the religion is easy and no one burdens himself in religion except
that it overcomes him. Be moderate, seek closeness to Allah, give glad tid-
ings, and seek help for worship in the morning and evening
and some part of the night.”
{ Sahih Bukhari }
Hadith 34
The Messenger of Allaah said, “Do not put a halt to his urinating,
but instead leave him.”
The Messenger of Allaah called him over and said to him, “Any kind of
urine or filth is not suitable for these masjids. Instead they are only [appro-
priate] for the remembrance of Allaah, the Prayer, and the recitation of the
Qur’aan,” or this is near to what the Messenger of Allaah said.
He (saw) then issued an order to a man from the people, who then came
with a bucket of water, which he poured over the [effected] area [of the
masjid].
{ Sahih Muslim }
In another narration related by Abu Huraira, a bedouin once entered in
the masjid, while the Prophet was seated inside.
Then not too much time passed before the Bedouin urinated in the masjid.
The sahaabah rushed towards him, and the Prophet (saw) said,
“Pour a bucketful of water on it (i.e., on the effected area).”
He (saw) then said, “Verily, you were sent only to make maters easy, and
you were not sent to make matters difficult.”

And the following is in another naration:
After he understood [the wrong which he had done], the Bedouin said,
“The Prophet (saw) stood before me – may my mother and father be
ransom for him – and he (saw) neither cursed nor scolded nor hit [me]”
{ Ahmad }
Hadith 35
Anas bin Malik (radhiallâhu anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallallâhu
‘alayhi wasallam) said,
“Make things easy for the people, and do not make it difficult for them,
and make them calm (with glad tidings) and do not repulse (them).”
{ Sahih Bukhari }
Hadith 36
“O Messenger of Allah, I see that you know which night is the Night of
Decree (laylat al-qadr). What should I say during it?” The Messenger of
Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Say: O Allah, you are par-
doning and generous. You love to forgive, so forgive me.”
‘O Allah, you are the Forgiver, You love to forgive, so forgive me.’
{ Sunan Tirmidhi }
Hadith 37
When the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his
mention ), was supported by Allah The Almighty and conquered Makkah
and entered it victoriously, he said to the disbelievers: “
What do you think I am about to do with you?”
They replied, “We hope for the best. You are a noble brother,
son of a noble brother.”
The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his men-
tion ), then said: “I say to you what my brother Yoosuf [Joseph], may Allah
exalt his mention, said to his brothers: {No blame will there be upon you
today. Allah will forgive you; and He is the most merciful of the merciful.}
[Quran 12:92]

Hadith 38
“A funeral procession passed by the Holy Prophet, and he stood up for it.
People said to him: It was the funeral of a Jew.
“You can never be (true) believers until you show mercy to one another.”
The companions said, “We all show mercy, O Messenger of Allah (SAW)!”
The Prophet (SAW) replied: “It is not the compassion that anyone of you
shows to his friend. It is the compassion and mercy that you show
to the people in general.”
‘The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.’”
