OBJECTIVE
To teach students secondary science in a relatable, equitable way that focuses on the needs of all students. I want to
work in a diverse educational environment, where I can utilize and grow my skills as part of a team of educators, while
being challenged to think critically and develop new instructional techniques.
EXPERIENCE
Student Teacher/Intern, East Lansing High School, East Lansing, MI September 2017-Current
Reflected on student learning and modified lessons to create meaningful learning opportunities for students
in Biology class.
Used multiple assessment strategies for learners with varying backgrounds, such as students with IEPs, 504
plans, and diverse learners.
Designed units and lessoned aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Biology class.
Utilized real world phenomena, such as Sickle Cell Disease, to create engaging and relatable questions to
engage students in scientific learning.
Initiated and maintained positive lines of communication with families through check-in emails for struggling
students.
Attended professional development opportunities, as well as staff and department meetings.
Teaching Field Placement, Eastern High School, Lansing, MI Fall 2016-Spring 2017
Developed lessons for 7th grade science students, as well as IB Environmental Science students by
incorporating varied instructional strategies and active learning experiences to engage students.
Assisted in monitoring and aiding students in a Credit Recovery Hour with varied areas of coursework.
Learned strategies to help students communicate their thoughts and ideas in whole class discussions.

Developed a lesson for students to implement engineering practices about soil erosion.
Observed and developed instructional and classroom management skills in an 8th grade Earth Science
classroom.
Learned strategies for incorporating literacy in a science classroom in order to make science an equitable
practice.
