The Friends of the Library (FOL) Adult Discussion Reading group met on January 9, 2018,
the first meeting for this group. Lou Harry served as the facilitator, and seven people attended.
Members discussed the book Standing in the Rainbow written by Alabama author Fannie Flag.
The group will meet once a month, the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The next meeting will be on
February 13, 2018, at 2PM, at the library. The book for discussion will be Go Set a W atchman by
Harper Lee.
The FOL Annual Luncheon was held on Monday, January 29, 2018. FOL members were
asked to bring their favorite dessert, casserole, salad, or main dish to share; which they did, and
everything was delicious. Georgianna Seymour and her helpers set up the tables beautifully.
Our speaker, Mike Schmitz, was wonderful and gave us much information to help with getting a
new library built. Attendance was better than ever.
Liz Babine, chair of the planned auction, will have a meeting on January 31 at 10:30 to meet
and plan the auction. All volunteers are welcome. Chris Wisham developed a donation form for
people wanting to donate. Michael Walden explained the Go Fund Me Account. It will connect
to Facebook. Christina Faulkner, a reporter with the Southern Star, will write to promote the
Library.
