Supply fans and condenser fans shall be provided. Fans shall be dynamically
balanced and tested in the factory. Supply fan motors and fan assemblies
shall be mounted on common bases and isolated internally or externally with
vibration isolators.
A control system shall be provided with the unit. Individual unit control
components shall be factory installed and tested as complete control systems
in each unit.
Split system air conditioners shall consist of either an indoor fan-coil section
and outdoor air cooled condensing unit or an indoor condenserless packaged
air conditioning unit with an air cooled condenser. Components shall be
interconnected by appropriately sized refrigerant piping.
Through wall air conditioning units shall be complete with air cooled
condenser, filter, compressor, double width centrifugal blower, draw through
evaporator and drain. Discharge shall be fitted with adjustable double-
deflection louvers.
Electric oil heaters, stoves should be using electric rate oil to 220 V and 60 Hz,
unless otherwise indicated in specific documents. The heater should be full-body
steel enamel, with thermostatic control to maintain a predetermined temperature
automatically, three levels of power ranging from 500 W to 2000 W, thermal
shield to avoid warming on the heater, developer of Power and Off the heater,
and safety device to interrupt electrical power in case of tipping.
3.5 FILTERS
Particulate air filters shall be 30-35% ASHRAE efficiency, pleated disposable type
unless otherwise noted.
3.6 REFRIGERANT
3.7 DUCTWORK
All sheet metal ductwork shall be in accordance with latest ASHRAE and
SMACNA recommendations. Ductwork, including fittings, shall be made of
commercial grade galvanized sheet.
Flexible duct shall not be used, except maximum 1500 mm (60 inch) long flexible
duct branches may be used for connection to diffusers above concealed ceilings.
Access doors shall be provided for convenient access to all automatic fire, back
draft dampers and other components of the system as required. Insulated doors
shall be provided for insulated ducts.
3.8 DAMPERS
Manual operated dampers shall be provided at each branch duct connection to air
distribution devices and where necessary to control air flow.
Full size fusible link fire dampers shall be installed at points where ducts
penetrate fire rated walls/floors.
Machined surfaces not normally painted shall be coated with a suitable anti-
corrosion compound to protect surfaces during ocean shipment and outside
storage at jobsite. The compound shall be such that it can be easily cleaned or
removed with solvent.
3.10 MATERIALS
All materials used in the fabrication of miscellaneous plate work shall be new and
shall conform to the following requirements unless otherwise indicated on the
drawings and construction details.
4 DESIGN DATA
5 PAINTING
All exterior surfaces and structural supports shall be painted. Interior surfaces shall only
be painted if specified on drawings. Color shall be as specified on purchase order for
each item.
Manufacturer's standard equipment shall be prime and finish coat painted in accordance
with the manufacturer's standard chemical resistant paint system.
Shop-fabricated plate work, ductwork, miscellaneous steel and structural steel shall be
prepared and painted in accordance with the specified system per General Specification
000-GC-S-012 (Painting and Protective Coatings).
Machined surfaces not normally painted shall be coated with a suitable anticorrosion
compound to protect surfaces during shipment and outside storage at the job site. The
compound shall be such that it can be easily removed with solvent.
Inspection, testing and repairs shall conform to the requirements of the applicable codes
and standards throughout this Specification and on the data sheets.
In the event that inspection shows an item does not conform to applicable codes,
standards or data sheets, the Fabricator shall bear all direct costs of repairs and/or
modifications necessary to bring the item into compliance.
Each item of work shall be assembled to the maximum extent possible and inspected in
the shop. Components of each item shall be marked for identification with equipment
number and piece mark and shipped in the minimum number of subassemblies.
Shipping assemblies shall be as large as transportation facilities to the job site will allow.
Equipment shall be completely shop-assembled to check fit prior to shipment. All critical
dimensions shall be verified and all motions checked and tested in the shop prior to
shipment. All matching parts of equipment which must be disassembled for shipment
shall be match-marked.
Adequate precautions shall be taken to minimize the possibility of damage in transit. All
nozzles shall be covered, capped or plugged, and all threads and flange faces shall be
protected with adequate covering.
Machined surfaces shall be greased and protected by wood or other means until
installation is made.
Lifting lugs shall be furnished on all equipment, large ducts and large structural
assemblies.
8 TAGGING REQUIREMENTS
All equipment shall have permanent nameplates. Each nameplate shall contain all
pertinent identification and information, Data on Samplers nameplates shall be either
raised or recessed to avoid loss on subsequent over painting.
All instruments, whether mounted on the equipment or shipped loose, shall have a
laminated and engraved plastic tag firmly attached by stainless steel wire.
If instrument or equipment location precludes the use of plastic due to high ambient
temperature or high vibration, then instrument tags and equipment nameplates shall be
stamped from 316 stainless steel.
Fabricator shall notify of any errors or omissions on drawings attached as part of this
specification, prior to completing detailing or starting fabrication. No back charges shall
be paid on any errors or omissions not reported prior to fabrication, where such errors or
omissions were discoverable prior to fabrication.
Fabricator shall furnish erection drawings for all materials covered by this Specification.

OUTDOOR DESIGN CONDITIONS
HVAC systems shall be designed for and selected to maintain specified indoor
temperatures at the following conditions:
TABLE II
INDOOR DESIGN CONDITIONS
NOTES
1. Cooling and heating loads shall be calculated using ASHRAE Handbook Fundamentals as a
guide.
2. Where pressurization is specified, area shall be supplied with a minimum of 2 air changes
per hour of clean, filtered outside air in excess of any exhaust air from area. Pressurization
air must be introduced by a forced air fan, preferably mixed with return air to air conditioning
unit.
3. Minimum outside air supplied to any normally occupied conditioned area shall be 10 percent
of the total circulated flow rate or 1 air change per hour, whichever is greater.
4. Evaporative coolers shall not be used unless specifically indicated.
5. All maintenance and laboratory equipment exhaust systems (if any) shall be analyzed and
designed using ACGIH Industrial Ventilation, latest edition and equipment manufacturer’s
recommendations as guides.
6. Make-up air shall offset all exhaust from the respective area.
7. Unless otherwise noted, cooling and heating load calculations shall not include any
allowances for future expansion or additional electrical equipment.
8. Cooling load calculations for electrical rooms shall include an appropriate allowance for the
heat rejection from all electrical equipment housed in the rooms. Consideration shall also be
given to the case where all heat producing electrical equipment is in an inoperative mode.
The minimum design space temperature shall be 5°C when all electrical equipment is off and
electrical room ventilation equipment is also off.
9. Minimum ventilation rates given in Table II as "Air Changes/Hour" are preliminary estimates.
All air changes rates will be calculated based on equipment heat rejection rates and design
indoor/outdoor temperatures. Calculated air change rates will be shown on a later revision of
this specification.
