Briefly, I accomplished and finished my study on English Teacher Training and
Education for three years and eight months, and gained a bachelor degree in November 2017 from Islamic State University for Islamic Studies Salatiga. Since I was a student, I have been a teaching practitioner. I did my part-time job as the teacher both in formal or informal institution. Most of my life experience directs to teaching and learning in the educational field. In 2012, I started teaching experience in Tulung Agung, East Java to teach Elementary School students during 1 month. In the scope of junior high school, I have been teaching English subject almost 5 years since 2012 up to now in Nurul Islam Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Tengaran, Semarang. Moreover, I dedicated myself to teach advanced students in the level of university for the first semester in September 2017 up to now. Out of my teaching career, I developed my English practical skill through joining National debate competition in Palu, Middle Sulawesi in 2014 attended by All Islamic University around Indonesia. Next, I have been mandated as the debate trainer in the field of British Parliamentary Style for University students and as the adjudicator in the debate competition in my recent college. At glance, I received some awards for this pride. Furthermore, I have also developed leadership skills by joining organizations such as English Department Student Association namely CEC (Communicative English Club), Lembaga Dakwah Kampus (LDK) stands for as an organization of religious proselytizing in college, in which I have frequently played educational roles. In the scope of social activities, I actively contributed in some informal programs such as being an Islamic radio broadcaster of Nurul Islam in 2013, being Islamic tutor for TPQ (Taman Pendidikan Al Qur’an) of Nurul Islam Institution Salatiga in 2013 up to now, and also being Regional volunteer of GREAT (Gerakan Kerelawanan Internasional) Indonesia in 2016 up to now. In addition, my dependable and trustworthy nature, modesty and tactfulness came forward when i was actively an organizer of volunteering program namely, English Friendship Camp (EFC) in 2015, at that time, i was the leader or chief the program. Since I graduated from university, I have been working part time job as an assistance of English lecturer in Islamic State University of Salatiga and also contributing to teach students in English Course of Salatiga. In addition, I also teach in Junior High School as the formal institution namely Nurul Islam Integrated Islamic School, Tengaran, Salatiga since 2013 up to now. In my teaching practice, I always move from the conventional English teaching strategies to educative and interactive teaching by using, for instance, interactive software, mini plays, role plays, short-drama, classroom debates, and out-bond. I unify among the learners needs, materials, and facilities in choosing the appropriate teaching strategies. Consequently, I have gained experience of how to devise a Lesson, select teaching materials, facilitate active classroom activities, and choose the most effective teaching strategies. These have then enabled me to see how my ideas and innovations have led me to desired results and made me suitably qualified to apply this master’s program.
My future goal is to develop myself to be a specialist in the field of English
teaching. With my greatest commitment, I have a strong intention to develop the community learning center. I plan to facilitate “distance learning” for elementary, junior, and senior high school students in remote areas of Cental Java Province, such as in Demak Regency, Kudus Regency, and Pati Regency. In the community learning centre, I will play a significant role in the English teaching, such as conducting need analysis, developing materials, designing syllabus, curriculum assessment, and evaluating. I further plan to implement contemporary English teaching and learning methods, with the use of audio-video, computer software, and internet, to motivate students and stimulate an effective teaching and learning process. To reach my long term goal, I would like emphasize my future study on the English language teaching methodologies (e.g. silent way, natural, and direct) and approaches (e.g. task-based, structural, communicative), with the use of educational technology and multimedia, and gaining practical experiences of designing syllabus, developing materials and assessments, integrating the learn ing of the four skills into appropriate course units, and exploring pedagogical methods. For this instance, my background on education will certainly be helpful because it has equipped me with the knowledge of learning concepts and techniques. It is beyond my doubt that this master’s program provides advanced theories, technology and information of English teaching which will expedite me to achieve remarkable academic progress and fulfill my aspiration to become an accomplished professional in the field of English education. I hope that the admission committee finds my background strengths commensurate with the requirement of the master program. Furthermore, I am surely eligible and reasonable to accept the scholarship from University of Reading.
