JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective

The director of organizational development position is responsible for managing


and supporting the assessment of organizational needs and the design,
implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional
development and continuous learning of team members, particularly executives
and emerging leaders.

Essential Functions

1. Manages organizational development (OD) strategies and processes.


2. Assesses OD needs of operating, business and functional units.
3. Leads the design, development and implementation of programs, policies
and strategies tailored to meet OD needs and program goals.
4. Designs and executes key programmatic elements of the OD process.
5. Evaluates strategies and programs to measure the achievement of
established goals.
6. Assists with the provision of expert facilitation and coaching to supervisors
and managers regarding OD methods and tools.
7. Manages the individual development planning process for executives and
emerging leaders.
8. Provides consultative services to the business units regarding mentoring.
9. Plans and leads short- and long-term planning for OD programs.
10. Prepares budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and
provide for effective management of resources.
11. Supervises a group of personnel in a work unit, each performing similar
and/or interrelated tasks and activities.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the OD function and is responsible for the
performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment such as laptops computers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met
by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or
hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger,
handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday,
8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job
duties demand.

Travel

This position requires 12 or more domestic trips per year.


Required Education and Experience

1. Master's degree in organizational development/organizational behavior.


Related experience considered in lieu of education. Six to 10 years of
experience.
2. Experience working with organizational development for operations in a
large organizational and/or functional business unit.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Ph.D. in organizational development/organizational behavior.

2. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified


Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective

The organizational development (OD) manager position acts as organizational


development liaison and advisor to the organization's leadership and facilitates the
organization's initiatives across the organization. The OD manager plans,
develops, implements and administers HR programs for company employees. This
position is also responsible for development and integration of human resource
programs and associated projects to achieve strategic business goals and
operational objectives.

Essential Functions

1. Directs the needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance
the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and
objectives of the company.
2. Identifies/incorporates best practices and lessons learned into program
plans.
3. Provides a broad range of consultative services to all levels of employees
regarding policies and procedures.
4. Facilitates communication among employees and management. May guide
managers and employees on problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory
compliance and litigation avoidance.
5. Provides expertise in strategy development and execution, planning and
facilitation of employee relations efforts.
6. Assists with planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance of labor
relations, employee relations, equal employment opportunity, diversity and
compensation programs.
7. Consults with management and employees on equal employment
opportunity issues and charges.
8. Designs and develops HR training programs for management and
employees.
9. Develops learning activities, audio-visual materials, instructor guides and
lesson plans.
10. Reviews evaluations of training courses, objectives and accomplishments.
11. Makes assessments of effectiveness of training in terms of employee
accomplishments and performance.
12. Trains employees on HR issues and practices. Presents course materials.
13. Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership
matters. Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to
enhance employee job performance and overall company performance.
