1. SCOPE
This guidance has been developed to define the actions required to safely control the action to be undertaken
by the Project Management team, Supervisors, and Contractor personnel when performing a task relative to
mitigating an adverse effects of natural calamities such as thunderstorm, highwinds and flooding.
Project Manager is the most responsible person in the implementation of this guidance. He is also
responsible in providing sufficient resources for the materialization of the objective this plan.
EHS personnel Will be responsible for developing, educating, communicating the required actions, and
coordinating various department through project management practical arrangement.
Engineers and Supervisor must monitor his workforce to follow, implement, and control the activities of his
team.
Emergency Response Team Act under the direct Supervision of the Project Engineers.
Other employees
Every employee has a general duty to follow this procedure to avoid any adverse health effect to his health,
and take of their own health, safety and welfare,

3. RAINSTORM – WARNINGS AND ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN
3.1 Long blast continuous siren warning will be sounded to give warning of heavy rainstorm which
may adversely affects the project site area.
3.2 This long blast warning which operates at all times may be issued alongside other severe weather
warning such as thunderstom.
3.3 During the potentially rainy day, EHS personnel will continuously assessed the likelihood of
significant rain so as to decide on the need to raise a rainstorm warning signal.
3.4 EHS personnel shall consult reliable source for the weather forecast. A weather forcast obtain from
local authorities weather forcasting website http://www.pme.gov.sa/en/pages/default.aspx shall
be the primary source of information. As an alternative, http://www.timeanddate.com/weather/saudi-
arabia//ext will be also used as a guidance in case local authorities weather forcasting failed.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN
3.5 Project Management Team of MAPA will inform TYPSA Safety representative of the work
stoppage.

4. FLOODING – WARNINGS AND ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN
4.1 It should be aware that when the continuous long blast of siren Warning Signal is issued, it
implies that there will be flooding in some low-lying and poorly drained areas. The
continuous long blast of siren Warning Signals indicate more serious flooding which could
cause major disruption.
4.2 Upon receipt of a notice of a flood alert or a report of flooding, staff of MAPA concerned
particularly the Forman will inquire the EHS team for obtaining a better understanding of
the situation and contacting EHS and Site Engineers of low-lying areas to give warning. The
Forman will in turn alert their workers of the case of flooding.
4.3 In the event that severe flooding is likely or is occurring in a particular area, the relevant
rescue team should be activated and the TYPSA should be notified of the situation. As
flooding is more likely after a prolonged period of heavy rainfall, EHS and Engineers
concerned should take into account area situations and weather conditions before deciding
to step down any emergency response, even after the cancellation of severe weather
warning signals.
4.4 Dewatering of flooded pits, valve chambers will be performed immediately as soon as the
flood subsides.
