ABOUT PANJAB UNIVERSITY
Panjab University is one of the oldest Universities in India, established in 1882 as University of Punjab at
Lahore (now in Pakistan). Its faculty includes some of the most distinguished scientists and academicians. It
continues to attract celebrated scholars at the campus. Over the years, the reputation of the Panjab
University has grown to emerge as an institution at the pinnacle in innovative teaching, research and
community outreach. The university campus is spread over an area of 550 acres in Sector 14 and Sector 25
of the city beautiful, Chandigarh. University has 78 teaching and research departments and 15
Centres/Chairs for teaching and research at the main campus located at Chandigarh.
The University has over the years continued to create beacons of
light that have set benchmarks of performance and efficiency for
others to follow. By virtue of its focus on quality education,
credibility, achievements and philosophy, the Panjab University has
achieved the status of University of International Recognition. It has
been delivering the promise of providing the nation with efficient

ABOUT UBS
University Business School (formerly, Department of
Commerce and Business Management) has been imparting
quality management education to develop dedicated,
innovative and effective managers, researchers and teachers
for four decades. The rechristening of the Department of
Commerce and Business Management as University Business
School (UBS) in 1995 by the Panjab University, symbolizes the
University Business School recognition of completeness and maturity of the Department
as a center of management education in India. The
transformation from a Department to a school has given it a distinct identity as a ' School of Thought ' . The
philosophy of the management education at the UBS is built on an integrative value system. It is motivated
by duty bound work ethics, human approach and scientific temper. The philosophy of the school is
translated into a mission of creating wholesome personality of human beings with a view to produce
effective managers, researchers and teachers. Modern attitude, practical wisdom, knowledge and skill
relevant for management are deeply ingrained in the students.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE


University Business School (UBS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, announces International Conference on
Strategic Competency Mapping for Talent Managment and Retention. The conference theme intends to
explore viewpoints on different issues related to managing the business and sustainable development of the
organizations in the present dynamic business world. There is a growing demand for quality Human
Resource but the supply for the latter is scarce. Hence it is of crucial importance to map and assess the
employees and their competencies scientifically & effectively because if wrong candidates are recruited it
may have serious implications on the organizational performance. With the changing job market, talent
management is increasingly evolving with it. Employers dont want good employees; they want great
employees. If employers take care and nurture their employees, they can have a huge advantage over their
competitors. Yes, its evident to hire workers with the right skills and background; however, without
motivation and growth, the employees will not perform to their full potential. The organizations success and
competitiveness highly depends on the mapping the competency in order to recruit and retain the best
employees. It has been rightly said that the future of training is competencies, not skills.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
PAPERS
Selection of papers would be based on an abstract of about 500-750 words. The author(s) should clearly
mention the area of interest under which the abstract is to be included. The abstracts that get approved
would be selected for final paper submission. All contributions should be submitted in English in Times
Roman 12-Point type, 1.5line spacing in A4 size page set up, with one inch margins on all sides. Final
paper submission must accompany a certificate by the author(s) that the paper is his original work and
has neither been published nor submitted for publication elsewhere. The cover page of the paper
should contain:
1. Title of the paper (in bold) 2. Name of author(s)
3. Professional affiliation of author(s) 4. Address for correspondence with email & phone numbers.

CASE STUDIES
Selection of case studies would be based on abstracts of about 500-750 words. The abstracts must
clearly indicate the objective of case study, details of the organization for which the case is written, major
findings and implications. Only case studies of real life organizations would be considered. The author(s)
should clearly mention the area of interest under which the case study is to be included. Both
academicians and corporate managers are expected to contribute to the conference case studies. The
case study based on primary data should include a No-Objection Certificate from the organization for
which the case study has been written.

All papers and case studies must be submitted on the following Conference

THERE WILL BE AN AWARD FOR THE BEST PAPER AT THE CONFERENCE. THESE AWARDS WILL BE
ANNOUNCED DURING THE RESPECTIVE TECHNICAL SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE.

*Authors of accepted abstracts must register and submit full papers by deadlines

Registration fee is required even if the paper is selected for the conference.
Registration fee covers the conference kit, conference proceedings,
REGISTRATION conference lunch, and tea. It, however, does not include hotel
FEE accommodation, hotel pick up facility and air port transfers. Limited
accommodation available on the University campus will be provided on first-
come-first-serve-basis.
