FROM THE OPERATIONS AND SECURITY OFFICE:

Car Stickers and School Passes (ID cards) – Deadline August 30, 2010

The car stickers for the school year 2010/2011 are available from the security office.

For vehicles already displaying an existing sticker, parents should submit a completed renewal form with a copy of the current LTO
official receipt. For new vehicles, parents are reminded that a copy of the vehicle’s certificate of registration and a current official
receipt need to be submitted with the application. Applications for vehicles registered with companies or other institutions should be
supported by a letter of assignment.

Each ISM family will be issued one vehicle sticker free of charge. Any additional stickers will be issued following payment of
Php100.00 to the cashier’s office.

In order to facilitate the easy recognition of authorized cars at the gates, the stickers should be affixed to the top right corner of the
windshield. Further to this, old ISM stickers issued in previous years should be removed.

Vehicles not displaying this year’s car sticker will not be allowed general access from August 30.

ID Cards

Parent IDs
Parent IDs issued in previous school year will continue to be valid for the new school year 2010/2011.

Parents who require replacement school IDs due to loss or damage can acquire these from the Security Office upon payment of
Php100.00 to the Cashier.

School Passes

School passes issued to parents’ employees and representatives need to be replaced for this school year. As of August 30, 2010 the
maroon bordered passes issued for the school year 2009/2010 will be invalid.

Each family will be given two free school passes. Additional school passes may be obtained after paying a processing fee of
Php100.00 each to the Cashier’s Office.

Visitors’ Passes

All visitors must secure a pass from the guardhouse at Gate 3. Before entry will be allowed, a telephone check will be made with the
relevant office to confirm the visitor’s business within the school.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best regards,
Mike Flynn
Director of Operations and Security

Talk by Carlos Celdran, with an introduction to Teodulo Protomartir by Uro dela Cruz

Little known to the general public, Teodulo Protomartir is considered as the Father of Philippine photography, and
credited with bringing the 35 mm format to the country. He captured Manila in ruins from the Second World War, its
battle wounds, and its restoration. He caught post-war Manila with Filipinos going about their daily business in familiar
places like Intramuros, Luneta, Ermita and Quiapo. He took shots as well of buildings and bridges that are no more.
Protomartir was there in 1946 when the Americans gave the Philippines its independence. On July 4, he witnessed the
birth of the Philippine Republic: for the first time the Philippine flag flew proudly alone. Filipino crowds cheered, planes
flew overhead, floats passed in parade. Protomartir caught it all on still camera. Beyond their importance as historical
evidence, Protomartir's images are cultural treasures that are part and parcel of the Filipino's identity and collective
memory. TV director and photographer Uro de la Cruz will give an introduction to Teodulo Protomartir and tell the
interesting story of how he serendipitously came across his photographs. And in his inimitable way, Carlos Celdran,
celebrated tour guide and authority on Manila's history, will bridge the decades with a talk illustrated with pictures of the
places Protomartir
photographed in 1946 as they are today in 2010.

FROM PRE K-12 GUIDANCE OFFICE:
Dear ISM parents,

The PreK-12 Guidance Department is excited to announce the first Parent Book Group of the 2010-11 school
year. The book we will be reading over this 10 week course is NurtureShock, written by Po Bronson and Ashley
Merryman. Instead of telling you what this book is about, we invite you to look at the NurtureShock website
http://www.nurtureshock.com/ , to browse the articles and watch the videos, and decide if this looks like
something you or someone you know might be interested in. The group will begin on Thursday, September 2
and tentatively meet every Thursday that school is in session until late November. Each session will begin at 8
am and finish around 10. NurtureShock is appropriate for parents with children of all ages. Interested parties
please contact Myrna Perez in the Elementary School Guidance Office to add your name to the list. In the past
these groups have been very popular and fill up almost as soon as they are announced. Spaces are limited and
are on a first come first serve basis. Participants will need to acquire their own copy of the book by the second
meeting. It is available locally or through Amazon.

We are looking forward to your participation!
