In 2014, 144,897 hogs were slaughtered. The numbers were higher as compared to the past
two years.
Projected values presented that 164,546 hogs are expected to be slaughtered in 2042.
*Traditionally, pigs are slaughtered at 80 to 85 kilograms, as monitored by the Los Baos-based
Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS:
I. AREA AND CAPACITY OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE
Based from Table 7, the average ratio of the three slaughterhouses to its area and capacity
per head is one (1) hog is to 0.93 square meters.
B. RECOMMENDED SIZES OF SLAUGHTERHOUSES
The average ratio of the capacity of a slaughterhouse to its area, as provided by PAES, is one
(1) hog is to 0.48 square meters.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES
99 106 1 hog: 0.93 sq.m.
PAES'
RECOMMENDATION
88 183 1 hog: 0.48 sq.m.
AVERAGE 93 145 1 hog: 0.71 sq.m.
The average ratio of the capacity of a slaughterhouse to its area, in comparison of the existing
slaughterhouses and the PAES size recommendation, is one (1) hog is to 0.71 square meters.
CONCLUSION: Based from the comparison above, the average ratio to be considered is that in
every one (1) hog, allot a space of at least 0.71 square meters.
