    DRAINAGE CALCULATIONS

    Design Basis:

    A) Water demand (Guest) = 350 Liters / Person / Day


    B) Water demand (Staff) = 40 Liters / Person / Day

    Calculations:

    A) Water demand (Guest) = 350 Liters / Person / Day


    Total No. of Guests = 348 Persons
    Total Water Storage = 122 m3 / day

    Assumed Sewage Waste = 90%

    = 109.8 m3

    B) Water demand (Staff) = 40 Liters / Person / Day

    Total No. of Staff = 100 Persons

    Total Water Storage = 4000 Liters / day

    = 4.0 m3 / day

    Assumed Sewage Waste = 90%

    = 3.6 m3

    Therefore,

    Total Sewage collection = 109.8 m3 + 3.6 m3

    = 113.4 m3

    Size of the main Pipe at full flow = 160mm Dia.

    Pipe Gradient considered within the building - 1:100

    Pipe Gradient considered for external - 1:150

    Swimming pool Volume = 150 m3

    Pool turnover period = 4

    Swimming pool water flow = 150 / 4 x 3.6


    = 10.4 lps
    Therefore
    Assumed 8.0 min. Backwash = 10.4 x 8 x 60

    Say = 5.0 m3 / day (Approximate)

    Blow down flow rate from cooling tower = 2.0 m3 (Approximate)

    Water pool = 38 m3 / day

    Therefore total storage = 158.4 m3

    2. HOLDING TANK

    Total storage = 158.4 m3

    Sewage collection = 113.4 m3 / day

    The estimated Sewage contribution / day


    at Grey plant working condition = Assumed 50% Waste water

    = 56.7m3

    Blow down flow rate from cooling tower = 2.0 m3

    = 56.7 m3 + 2.0 m3

    = 58.7 m3

    For two days storage = 117.4 m3

    The estimated Sewage contribution / day = 158.4 m3 /day


    In case of Grey water plant shutdown

    For one days storage = 158.4 m3

    Therefore, Effective tank size = 27.7m x 3.0m x 1.9m Deep

    Holding tank size = 27.7m x 3.0m x 3.0m Deep

    2. SEWAGE LIFTING STATION (BASEMENT-2)

    Size of the chamber = 1.5mx1.0mx0.5m Deep

    Storage Volume = 0.75m3

    Pump Duty: = 01 Duty / 01 Standby


    Flow Rate = 750 / 5 / 60

    = 2.5 lps

    3. STORM WATER LIFTING STATION (BASEMENT-2)

    Size of the chamber = 1.2m x 1.2m x 0.2m Deep

    Storage Volume = 0.288m3

    Pump Duty: = 01 Duty/ 01 Standby

    Flow Rate = 288 / 5 / 60

    = 0.96 lps

    Say = 1.0 lps

    4. RAIN WATER DRAINAGE

    Design Basis:

    A) Maximum rain water intensity = 75mm / Hr.

    Calculations:

    Total area to be drained = 1100 m2

    Total volume to be drained = 82.5 m3

    Total flow rate = 22.9 lps

    Flow through each outlets = 22.9 / 11

    = 2.1 lps

    Size of the pipe at 1/4 full flow = 110mm Dia.

    No. of out lets = 11 Nos.

    5. GREY WATER SYSTEM

    Design Basis:

    Guest = 348

    Staff = 100

    Water allocation = 350 Liters / Guest

    = 40 Liters / Staff
    Calculations:

    Usage per Guest,

    For Meals = 20 Liters

    For Laundry = 20 Liters

    WC Flush = 40 Liters

    Total = 350 80

    = 270 Liters / Guest

    Usage per Staff,

    Assumed 50% for Grey water = 20 Liters

    Total usage, Guest + Staff = (270x 348) + (20 x 100)

    = 96m3/day

    Total Backwash from Swimming pool & Waterfall = 43m3/day

    Total Grey water = 139m3/day

    Therefore for 18hrs. period = 2.15 lps
