Reflection from prior lesson: This Lesson plan will reflect off of previous lessons that worked balance and
coordination.
SD Standard 2: Students will analyze scientific concepts and principles to understand, evaluate,
and enhance movement skill acquisition and performance.
SD Standard 3: Students will participate in physical activity to achieve and maintain a health
enhancing level of physical fitness.
SD Standard 4 Students will develop responsible and respectful personal and social behavior in
physical activity settings.
SD Standard 5 Students will understand that physical activity provides opportunities for
enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, social interaction, and employment
Lesson Objectives:

1. Develop the knowledge on techniques of jumping rope.

2. Exhibit proper jumping and landing procedures for the activity
The Lesson
1. Introduction (include time allotment)
Getting attention: upon entering the gymnasium the students will enter the locker rooms and change into their
workout clothes (5-10 minutes)
* As Students enter the gym they will be split up to various warm up stations. At these stations the students will do
different warm up exercises preparing them for todays lesson. There will be 5 stations and they will move to the
next on after a minuet (6 minutes)
Relating to past experience and/or knowledge
*After warm up the students will partner up and work on their pushups for the fitness gam test. Each student goes
for 2 minutes. (4 minutes)
Creating a need to know
*Teacher will explain how jump roping is an important exercise because it works on various different skills.
Such as balance, coronation, and rhythm.(2 minutes)
Jumping lines:
Students will find a line on the court and practice jumping at the correct height and distance over the line. Students
will do this forward and back then side to side.. (3 mins)
Jump rope arm/wrist swing. I will demonstrate the proper technique of how to swing the rope and where it should hit
the floor. Students will then do this with me. When rope is in front of their feet they will step over the rope and
practice their arm and wrist swing again. (3 mins)
Jumping rope: Students will now practice putting their line jumping skills and are wrist swing together to jump rope.
Teacher will stop students and go over something if students are struggling. (3-5 mins)
Jumping rope to music: Students will jump rope to the music to help them get into a rhythm. (3-5 mins)
Last one standing students will compete against each other to see who can jump the longest without messing up.
When a student misses they are to sit down this will continue till the last student is standing. (5 mins)
Closure: Students will be asked to put jump ropes away then get ready for their next class. (2-3 mins)
