Knowledge of engineering design was helpful in doing c.e.1.2.2,

be followed to solve the complicated problems arising in the

I developed my skills in doing drafting by the use of

component bracket.

I became familiar with the first principle method of


measurement using the metrology instruments like vernier
caliper, screw gauge, height gauge, slip gauges etc., I
developed my skills in using metrology instruments during C.E.2.3.2, CE
3.3.2
PE 1.2 b my bachelors degree and this made me more familiar in this
area, as I was assigned as a Quality Assurance Engineer in
my work place, I gathered a wide knowledge in the use of
instruments for measuring all the complex dimensions.

I also went through a lot of metrology instruments and


gathered data about the various types instruments available C.E.1.2.2,
and their usage. This gave me an opportunity to have hands C.E.1.3.1.6,
C.E.2.2.2,
on experience in using most of the instruments including the
C.E.2.3.1,
PE 1.2 c roundness tester, surface finish tester, CMM, calibration

instruments, air pressure gauges etc., I area that I was in my
work place involved me in measuring dimensions as low as
10 microns.

PE 1.3 Techniques and resources

Working with other experienced engineers helped me to C.E 1.3.1.1,
C.E.2.3.4,
learn various techniques used to solve the problems. I also

PE 1.3 a gained more knowledge from my mentor (Senior Manager –
QA) who constantly reviewed my progress in my work
place.

I went through the Quality manuals of my work place and


also got knowledge from the online resources in using C.E.1.3,
C.E.2.2.4,
various Quality tools to tackle the issues in the production C.E.3
PE 1.3 b line. I also read the machine manuals to thoroughly know
each and every step of processing in every machine in the
production line and also analyzed the machine specifications
to find the capability of the machines.
I also used the library in my company which had a variety of
books related to the mechanical industry. I also went through
PE 1.3 c the books from the library to get familiarized with any new C.E.2.
terms or processes I came across during my career.

PE 1.4 General Knowledge

The Professional career was challenging and I utilized my C.E.2.2.2,
knowledge in manufacturing process like turning, boring, C.E.2.3.2,
PE 1.4 b tapping, drilling, grinding, honing and also my experience in C.E.3.2.2,
using the metrology instruments. My understanding of C.E.3.3.4
engineering drawing was useful to study the component
drawings in my workplace.

My second Professional career was very interesting. Since I


already had experience as a Quality Engineer, I implemented
the use of control charts to identify the area that needed C.E-3
PE 1.4 c attention. I also used my experience in using specialized
quality equipments to train the QA persons in my company. I
also developed my knowledge about the metrology
equipments.

UNIT PE 2 ENGINEERING ABILITY

When developing a process plan for new quality testing


system, I considered the process time, the way of loading
and unloading, operational parameters, life of the tools and
the features in various machines. Then I selected a machine
which met the desired requirements. I got the commitment of
PE 2.3 a C.E.2.3.3
the machine supplier about the process capability of the
machine. Once the machine arrived to the company,
commissioning was done and I checked the various machine
parameters and the quality of the components produced to
calculate the process capability. Then the machine was
accepted based on my report.

In our daily meetings with the engineers of various


C.E.2.2.2,
departments, we discuss about various issues in our line. As

a Quality engineer, I was very much concerned about the
quality of the product produced. Before going to meeting I

used to analyse the problems and find all the causes for the
problem and I discussed about it with my team members and
actions were taken and the defects were reduced. Thus I

During my training, I applied my design knowledge in C.E.1.2.2,

PE 2.4 a designing a die for a component and new quality testing

technique considering all the engineering requirements like C.E.2.3.2,
the dimensions of the gate, sprue bush, mould cavity etc., C.E. 2.3.3
During my professional career, to eliminate the defects in the
component, I designed special gauges for inspection. This

quickly. This significantly reduced the inspection time and
the inspection errors caused manually.

completed my tasks within the time frame given during my
training and I submitted my reports to my college by
managing deadlines.
In my work place, we had a problem in the finished product.
I analysed the issue and introduced an additional functional
test to ensure that only good components reaches the
customer. Then, I further analysed and found there was C.E-2
PE 2.5 b problem in one of the measuring instrument which was not
consistent. I analysed the instrument and found that there

was oil in the air gauge. I rectified it and the problem was
solved. I made a cleaning schedule for the instrument.

making certain operations.

During my professional career, I went to our customer


service station for a quality issue. There I identified the C.E.3
PE 3.7.a problem and explained them the reason for occurrence and
gave them additional information to prevent it from
happening.
I gathered information by communicating with the suppliers C.E.2.3.2,

PE 3.7 b when ever I feel that the datas available is insufficient. I also

understood most of the issues by using my knowledge about
the first principle.
I made a lot of continuous improvement in my line which C.E.2.3.2

me a professional image.
