MM UNIVERSITY : A PROFILE
Ideally located on the 'tapobhoomi' of Maharishi Markandeshwar in the river bed of the sacred
Markanda, with exotic lush green rural surroundings, the Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana-
Ambala, was established under the aegis of the reputed Maharishi Markandeshwar Education Trust, which was
founded by a great visionary and renowned promoter of education, Shri Tarsem Garg, in November 1993.
Named after Maharishi Markandya (the great-grandson of Bhrigu Rishi and the son of Rishi Markandu, the
eternal torchbearer of communal harmony and religious tolerance, who by his power of pious devotion and deep
faith in Lord Shiva, acquired the boon of eternal life by defeating the invincible Yamraja), MM University began
with the establishment of MM Engineering College at Mullana in 1995. Making rapid progress in a short span of
18 years, it has developed into a vast campus comprising the institutions of high-profile professional courses in
the areas of Medical Sciences (MBBS, M.Sc. Medical, MD/MS/PG Diplomas almost in all major specialities,
Ph.D. in select disciplines); Dental Sciences (BDS and MDS in all the nine specialities, Diplomas in Dental
Hygienists and Dental Mechanics, Certificates in Aesthetic Dentistry and Oral Implantology, Ph.D);
Physiotherapy (BPT, MPT in five specialities); Pharmacy (B.Pharm, M.Pharm in four specialities, Ph.D);

Exchange collaborations with the foreign Universities and institutions of repute have proved highly useful in
keeping pace with the global developments in technical and professional education. Other institutions on the
campus by the same Trust includes MM College of Education (B.Ed, M.Ed.); MM International School (for +2
with affiliation from CBSE & Cambridge); and MM School of General Nursing & Midwifery.
The MM Education Trust has the pride privilege in establishing the first self-financing Engineering
College, first self-financing Medical College, and the first self-financing Deemed University in the region. The
other campuses which have recently been developed by the Trust as a part of its expansion programme include MM
University, Kumarhatti-Solan (H.P.), MM University, Sadopur-Ambala (Haryana) and MM Group of Institutions,
Ramba-Karnal with the latest edition of a medical college at Kumarhatti-Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
An epitome of quality education, the MM University has been imparting value-based, career-oriented
education, with special emphasis on medical and technical education, lending yeoman service to the society,
providing the best available training in academics as well as extra-curricular activities. The carefully selected
faculty is an important asset of MMU, which provides latest academic input, blending it with organization of
national seminars, conferences, workshops, industry-academia interactions and orientation towards research,
innovation, etc. Our vision, emanating from the founder's thought-process, is to develop better than the best
professionals for the economic development of the country.
The University complex comprises independent buildings of various MM Institutes, fourteen hostels (6
for boys, 7 for girls and 1 family hostel for PG Medical Students), five of which are centrally air-conditioned,
with accommodation for about 6000 students; 900-beded MM Medical College Hospital, with latest facilities of
CT-SCAN, MRI, ultra modern OTs, Blood Bank, Pathological Labs, as also recently procured 1.5 Tesla MRI

and 128 Slice MDLT advanced Software for angiography and imaging; residential sector for about 500
faculty and administrative staff; shopping centers; branches of the State Bank of India and Oriental Bank of
Commerce with ATM facilities; Post Office; transport service with 80 AC/Delux Buses for staff and students
coming from nearby areas; Petrol outlet; Wi-Fi Campus with backbone of optic fibre line with 158 mbps
connectivity; Examination Halls; Auditorium; modern lecture-theatres duly fitted with OHPs and LCDs; own
civic facilities like water supply, sewerage and electrification backed by high-powered soundless generators to
ensure uninterrupted electric supply to facilitate teaching-learning process. All the MM institutions have
well-equipped modern Labs with latest equipments, besides about sixty computer Labs with over 2900 P-IV
and licenced softwares.
The air conditioned and computerized Libraries of the University and its Institutions are well equipped
with rich collection of Books, Journals, DVDs/CD's/Videos, Theses, standards and back volumes with
provision of one-time sitting capacity of 1500 readers. In total there are 1,55,000 books and subscribe ample
number of national and international Journals including e-journals.
The University is members of IEEE, EBSCO's Dentistry and Oral Sciences Source, Lippincott
Williams & Wilkins e-collection, etc. which provide access to all the users of Engineering, Medical and Dental
streams with full text international journals.
The University is also members of National networks like INFLIBNET, MEDLARS, DELNET, etc.
through which the collections of various institutions in India and abroad are accessible to the users for records
searching. DELNET offers access to more than 16.26 million bibliographic records, 35,990 union list of
current periodicals, 20,235 records of union catalogues of periodicals, 9,22,042 records of periodicals articles
and 70293 records of theses and dissertations held by 2134 Libraries in the States of India and 22 overseas
Libraries. MEDLARS is accessible to all users in the disciplines of Medical Sciences.

Established in 2003, it is the first self financing private Medical Institution in the State of
Haryana having highly qualified faculty, quality infrastructure and magnificent buildings
with lush green campus.
The Institute has most modern, centrally air-conditioned operation theatres and intensive
care complex which are fully equipped with latest and state-of-the-art medical care
equipments and other infrastructure. The Post Graduate Departments of Anatomy,
Physiology, Bio-Chemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine,
Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Obst. & Gynaecology, Surgery,
Anaesthesia, Orthopaedics, Medicine, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Chest & TB,
and Radiodiagnosis are fully equipped and have highly qualified Faculty having gained
experience at not only highly reputed medical institutes of the country but abroad also. In
addition to Dental Institute with provisions of Post Graduate classes of MDS also, the
Medical Institute is supported by the Post Graduate Institutes of Physiotherapy, Nursing,
Pharmacy as also 900-beded Hospital where patients are treated affectionately with care
and kindness. Assisted by qualified para medical staff, the Hospital provides facilities of
Ultrasound, MRI, C.T. Scan, Blood Bank, 24 hours emergency services, post mortem, and
well equipped Biochemistry, Pathology and Microbiology labs with equipments like
ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, incubators, infusion pumps, etc. Apart from the
facilities of incinerator, central kitchen and laundry have also been provided. The Medical
College hospital is duly recognized by the H.P. Govt. for medical treatment of its
employees with entitlement of medical reimbursament.
Besides departmental libraries, the Institute has a well stocked air conditioned
computerized Library with a seating capacity of 450 students. The Library has a rich
collection of 18,150 text books, reference books, national, international and E. Journals in
addition to magazines, etc. of common interest. It subscribes to 470 journals which include
338 international journals. Topics of various subjects have also been covered in CD-ROMs
for the benefit of the students. E Resources include LWW cluster E-collection for Medical,
Nursing and Pharmacy streams in addition to Internet facilities.

Petitions will be applicable, will be offered at the time of Counselling when seats in the respective speciality under Table 'A'
have been filled up.
2. The candidates for admission against NRI seats are not required to appear in the Entrance Test.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
1. A candidate will be eligible for appearing in the Entrance Test for MD/MS/
Diploma Courses if he/she :
i) is a citizen of India ;
ii) has passed MBBS examination from any Medical College/Institution
recognized by the Medical Council of India ;
iii) has completed satisfactorily or is liable to complete one year compulsory
rotating internship by 30.04.2014 from Colleges/Centres recognized by the
Medical Council of India ;
iv) is registered permanently with the State Medical Council/MCI at the time of
admission; and
v) possesses a certificate of good conduct from the Head of the Institution last
attended.
i) he/she will be debarred for next three years from applying for admission to
any P.G. Course (Degree/Diploma) in the M.M. Institute of Medical
Sciences & Research, Mullana-Ambala ; and
ii) he/she will have to execute a Bond for payment of full fee of MD/MS/
Diploma Courses, at the time of admission and will be liable to pay the bond
money in case he/she leaves before the completion of full period of the course.
5. Candidates already in service must submit their Application Forms through their
employer or produce 'No Objection Certificate', from their employer on or before
the last date fixed for the receipt of Application Forms.

The period of training for obtaining Diploma shall be two years including the period of
examination.
The candidates shifting from one subject to another or joining the course from waiting list
within one month from the start of the session (closing date of admission) will be
permitted to take the examination along with the regular batch. But for this reason, the
period of absence (even less than 30 days) due to any reasons, after the closing date of
admission i.e. 30 days from the start of session shall not be condoned.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The Application Form duly completed in candidate's own handwriting, should
reach the Admission Office, Administrative Block, Maharishi Markandeshwar
University, Mullana-Ambala (Haryana), 133-207 on or before 20.01.2014 by 4:00 P.M. It
may be delivered either personally or sent under registered cover. Candidates already in
employment should send their Application Forms through proper channel. Incomplete
Application Form or Form received after the closing date/time will not be considered.
The Competent Authority takes no responsibility for any postal delay in the receipt or loss
of Application Form or any document/correspondence in transit. No intimation with
regard to rejection of the candidature on account of late receipt of Application Form will be
sent to such candidates.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. The cost of Prospectus-cum-Application Form will not be refunded under any
circumstances.
2. Any attempt on the part of the candidate, parents or relatives to canvass or bring
influence to bear upon the Competent Authority, directly or indirectly, for
securing admission will lead to disqualification.
3. The candidate is admitted on the basis of information submitted by him/her and
if, at any subsequent stage, it is discovered that any portion of this information is
incorrect, the student will be expelled from the institution and all fees and other
dues paid/liable to be paid upto the date of such removal shall be
forfeited/charged. Any further action as deemed suitable may also be taken by
the University against such student.
4. The Application Form should be filled in carefully in block and legible letters and
signed by the candidate. All claims made in the Application Form must be
supported with documentary proof. Application Forms which are incomplete in
respect of the required particulars or due to lack of essential documents will be
rejected.
5. In case of any ambiguity in the rules, the interpretation given by the Vice-
Chancellor/Competent Authority of the University shall be final.
6. Any candidate, who violates the above conditions willfully, or otherwise, shall be
liable to expulsion.
7. Instructions/directions to modify/change the conditions can be issued by the
University prior to Counselling.
8. Objections, if any, about the entries/conditions of eligibility mentioned in the
prospectus can be raised in the form of a representation to the Competent
Authority before the date of holding the test.

b) Immediately on receipt of the Test Booklet as well as the answer sheet, the
candidate will first read the instructions on it and fill in the required
particulars on cover page of the Test Booklet and on the OMR answer sheet.
Before attempting the question paper, the candidates must check if the Test
Booklet supplied to him/her is complete in all respects as regards the number
of pages with 120 questions and OMR sheet. Discrepancy, if any, should be
brought to the notice of the invigilator immediately and the Booklet should be
got changed. No complaint in this regard will be entertained 30 minutes after
the start of the test and no extra time will be allowed for attempting the
question paper on this pretext.
c) The test will start exactly at the time mentioned in the Prospectus and an announcement
to this effect will be made by the invigilator. No candidate will be allowed entry in the
Examination Hall 15 minutes after the commencement of the test.
d) During the examination, the invigilator will check the Admit-Cards and
compare the photograph of each candidate to satisfy himself about the
genuineness of the candidate. The rubber stamp of the Centre Superintendent
will be affixed on the space provided in the Answer-Sheet and the Test Booklet.
Each candidate shall also be required to sign the attendance sheet.
e) After completing the test and before handing over the Test Booklet and
Answer Sheet, the candidate should check again that he/she has followed the
instructions printed on the test-booklet and that all the particulars have been
written correctly. He/She must ensure that the Roll No. is written correctly in
the OMR/Answer-Sheet.
f) A signal will be given both at the beginning and end of the Test. At the closing
signal, the candidate must stop marking responses.
g) The OMR Answer-Sheet should be handled by the candidate very carefully. It
should not be folded or mutilated in any manner to ensure complete and
accurate evaluation of the Answer-Sheet.
h) To answer any question, the candidate will be required to darken the circle by
using black ball point pen only corresponding to the answer, he/she thinks to
be correct. An example for the same is given here under serial no. i.
i) Question: When a tuning fork vibrates with 1.0m or 1.05m long wire of a
conomoter, 5 beats per second are produced in each case. What will be the
frequency of the tuning fork?

4. No student, after joining the MD/MS/Diploma courses will be allowed to apply for
or accept any appointment (including Senior Residency/Demonsratorship) till the
completion of the course.
5. The candidates selected for admission to MD/MS/Diploma courses will be
required to give an affidavit to the effect that they are not undergoing any training
at any other Institution and will not appear in All India Entrance Test/Examination
of MD/MS/ Diploma Entrance Examination of any other University to be held
during the course of their studies in this Institution till the completion of the course.
If a candidate is found appearing in any such examination under any
circumstances, his/her admission shall be cancelled and the candidate will be
liable to pay the fee for the remaining period of the course also. The Registrar of the
University/Principal of the College will be Competent Authority to recover the
balance fee of the remaining period.
6. If a student absents himself/herself from duty, an intimation to this effect will be
sent by the concerned Head of the Department to the Principal/Director within 48
hours. If the period of absence exceeds 2 days, the Head of the Department/Unit,
shall not allow any such student to join his/her duty without prior permission of
the Director/Principal.
7. If a student remains absent continuously for two weeks or a total of six weeks in one
year (without getting leave sanctioned), his/her admission shall stand cancelled.
For reasons like illness, certificate (upto four weeks continuous or with breaks)
issued only by the Principal of the Medical Institute will be accepted. If a candidate
leaves the station with permission and falls ill, a certificate (upto four weeks
continuous or with breaks) issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil
Surgeon or Medical Superintendent of the Institution, will only be accepted. The
certificates must bear identity (specimen signature) of the candidate, departments
dispatch No., office stamp and signatures of Head of Deptt./Unit/Civil
Surgeon/concerned. Certificate on simple OPD card or prescription slip will not
be treated as Medical Certificate. For medical leave beyond four weeks, the
candidate will have to apply and appear before a Medical Board to be constituted
by the Principal. M.M. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Mullana in which
case only the Medical Certificate issued by the Medical Board will be accepted.
However, the period of such leave sanctioned will have to be compensated by
undergoing training for the extended period equal to the period of leave availed
before appearing in the examination. If a candidate fails to appear before the
Medical Board, his/her admission shall be cancelled without any further notice.
Further, if a candidate leaves the country during his/her course without the
permission of the Competent Authority, his/her admission shall be cancelled
without any notice.

8. In case a student avails maternity leave during the course, the same will be allowed
as per MCI instructions.
9. The students will be allowed leave as per University/College instructions from time to
time.
10. The Head of the Department is competent to sanction leave including station leave
upto four days only. If the duration of leave including station leave is more than
four days, then the Head of Dept. will forward the application with specific
comments to the Principal for sanction. Yearly leave will be granted only in
proportion to the time of the year elapsed.
11. No candidate will be allowed to change the subject/discipline after the final
Counselling under any circumstances.
IV. Every candidate shall have to execute a bond to serve the Institute as Senior
Resident for two year after completion of the course failing which he/she will have to pay
an amount of Rs. 5 Lac to the Institute.

(xi) Photograph :Affix a recent (not taken before 01-07-2013) high contrast photograph
(preferably black and white) in the space earmarked for it on the Application Form.
Accessories like caps, hats or dark spectacles are not permitted in the photograph.
Polaroid camera photos are not acceptable. The photograph should not be defaced.
The photograph should be firmly affixed to the Application Form with adhesive
(gum/fevicol) and should not be pinned or stapled. Application form of the
candidate not complying with these instructions or with unclear photograph are
liable to be rejected.
(xii) Candidates are requested to put their signature in the box given at the bottom of the
space for Photograph. Writing full name in this box in capital letters would not be
accepted as signature and the Application Form is liable to be rejected.
(xiii) Candidate should firmly tie or staple the Application Form and enclosures. Use the
envelope provided for dispatch of Application Form.
(xiv) Request for change in any particulars in the Application Form shall not be
entertained under any circumstances.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. The authorities of the University/Institute do not undertake any responsibility for
the delay or loss of the Application Form or correspondence pertaining thereto
during transit (postal/courier)
2. The Application Form/Prospectus once purchased will not be returnable.
3. Applications which are incomplete or without the required documents will not be
considered.
4. The candidates placed in the merit list provisionally must produce all the
documents in original alongwith their attested copies at the time of Counselling.
5. The Counselling Board shall have the power to call for any documents from the
candidate in support of his/her claim and reject any certificate not considered
valid.
6. The decision of the Counselling Board in this regard shall be final.
7. No judicial proceedings will lie against the competent authorities i.e. the University
for Counselling and Admissions.
8. All Admissions are provisional i.e. subject to their final registration with Maharishi
Markandeshwar University, Mullana, after completing necessary requirements as
per Rules / Ordinances.
9. A candidate already admitted in any Medical College in MD/MS/Diploma course
will not be considered eligible for admission to MD/MS/Diploma course through
this entrance test.
10. Application Forms received after the due date will be summarily rejected.
11. No foreign student shall be admitted to MD/MS/Diploma courses unless his/her
candidature has been cleared by the respective Ministry/Department of Govt. of
India.
12. The University has the right to change the dates of admission process, examination
centers, due to any unavoidable circumstances. Any change made in this
Admission Schedule will be notified on the website : www.mmumullana.org.
13. If at any stage, it is discovered that any portion of the information submitted by a
candidate, on the basis of which his/her admission has been allowed, is incorrect or
false, he/she shall be removed from the College and fee and other dues paid until
the date of such removal shall be forfeited. The Institute will also be within its right
to take any further action, as it may deem fit, against the student and his/her
parents/guardian as the case may be.
14. Application Forms received after the due date and time due to any reason including
delay in transit (Postal/Courier) will be rejected without any intimation to the
candidates.

15. If the selected candidate does not join the College on the stipulated date fixed by the
Counselling Board, the selection for admission of such a candidate will be treated as
cancelled.
16. If any candidate or his/her parents or guardian are found to have submitted any false
affidavit/certificate, not only the candidates admission will be cancelled but the
person filing such affidavit/document will also be liable to be prosecuted in
accordance with Law.
17. The rules given herein are provisional. These may be changed or modified by the
University at any stage.
18. Candidates who fail to attend the Medical Examination on the notified date(s) will
forfeit the claim for admission and placement in the waiting list.
19. On the failure of the selected candidates to report for admission, the vacancies
caused would be filled by the candidates from the waiting list in order of merit of
the Entrance Test.
20. The University has appointed the following Grievance Committee, which will
examine/decide objections, if any, from the candidates who have appeared in the
Entrance Test within 48 hours from the publication of the merit list.

21. The result of the candidates, who qualify in the Entrance Test will be displayed on
the website of the University as well as displayed on the Notice Board of the MM
Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, M.M. University, Mullana - Ambala.
22. If a candidate fails to attend the first Counselling, he/she will not be allowed to
attend any subsequent Counselling(s), if any, for the purpose. Vacant/left out seats
after the counselling will be filled on merit of the qualifying examination.
23. In case of any ambiguity in the rules, interpretation of the same as given by the Vice-
Chancellor shall be final.
24. Subject to availability of hostel accommodation on first come first served basis,
every student admitted to the course will have to reside in hostels of the Institute.

Every candidate for admission will have to submit an Affidavit, duly attested by
the appropriate authority, as per Annexure I appended as a part of the Admission
Form at the end of this Prospectus to the effect that he/she has not been expelled
and/or debarred by any institution and further aver that he/she would not
indulge, actively or passively, in the act or abet the act of ragging and if found
guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, is liable to be proceeded against under
these Regulations or under any penal law or any other law for the time being in
force and such action would include but is not limited to debarment or expulsion
of such student .
Parent/Guardians of the candidates for admission to any course in any of the
Institutes of the University shall submit another Affidavit on similar lines in
respect of their wards, duly attested by the appropriate authority, as at Annexure
II of the admission form appended at the end of this Prospectus.
Students seeking admission to any of the hostels forming part of the University or
its institutions, or seeking to reside in any temporary premises not forming part of
the University/institution, including a private commercially managed lodge or
hostel, shall have to submit additional affidavit, countersigned by his/her
parents/guardians, in prescribed format as at Annexure I alongwith their
Application for admission.
Every student at the time of his/her registration shall inform the institution
about his/her place of residence while pursuing the course of study, and in case
the student has not decided his/her place of residence or intends to change the
same, the details of his place of residence shall be provided immediately on
deciding the same; and specifically in regard to a private commercially managed
lodge or hostel where he/she has taken up residence.
The student concerned or anyother person knowing about any act of ragging
having been committed to any of the students on the institutional premises or
outside shall immediately bring the matter to the notice of the authorities of the
University or the concerned institutes personally or on phone number as given on
the next page without causing any delay to enable the concerned authorities to take
appropriate expeditious action in the matter
While the MM University and its institutions assure to fully adhere to all the
relevant Regulations on curbing the Menace of Ragging and to take all necessary
precautions to avoid any case of Ragging with any student of the University and
its institutions, the parents especially of freshers are also requested to remain in
