This document provides tutorial problems for analyzing velocity in mechanisms using different methods. It includes 8 problems determining linear and angular velocities of links in various 4-bar chain and slider-crank mechanisms where inputs like rotational speed of cranks and link dimensions are given. The user is to use methods like instantaneous center of velocity and relative velocity analysis to calculate velocities of other links based on the input rotational motions and link dimensions.

Velocity Analysis
1. The diameter of a four bar chain shown in fig below are: AD =
BC = 120mm. AB = 30mm and CD = 60mm. The crank AB rotates at 100 rpm. Determine the angular speed of link CD.
2. The dimensions of the various links of the mechanism shown
in the fig below are: AD = DE =150mm, BC = CD = 450mm, EF = 375mm. The crank AB rotates at 120 rpm. The lever DC oscillates about a fixed point D. Determine (a) velocity of slider F and (b) angular speed of CD.
3. In the mechanism shown below the piston D moves in the
vertical direction upwards with a velocity of 5m/s. O1A = 7.5mm, O1O2 = 30cm, AB = 25cm, O2C = O2B = 10cm, CD = 25 cm and BC = 12.5 cm. Find the speed in rpm and direction of rotation of crank O1A.

4. The quick-return motion mechanism of the crank and slotted lever type shaping machine is shown in the fig below. a. O1O2 = 800mm, O1B = 300mm, O2D = 1300mm, DR = 400mm The crank O1B makes an angle of 45o with the vertical and rotates at 40 rpm in the counter-clockwise direction. Find:(a) velocity of ram R, and (b) angular velocity of link O2D
5. Using instantaneous centre method, find the angular velocity
of BC, and velocity of C and E in the mechanism shown below. Link AB revolves at 30 rpm clockwise. AB = 0.5m, BC = 1.75m, CD = 1.5m, AD = 2m, and BE = 0.75m

6. In the mechanism shown in fig.6, the crank O1A rotates at a uniform speed of 650 rpm. Determine the linear velocity of slider C and angular speed of the link BC. O1A = 30mm, AB = 50mm, O2B = 65mm and O1O2 = 70mm
7. The crank and slotted lever mechanism is shown in the fig.7.
OA = 200mm, AB = 100mm, OC = 400mm, and CD = 300mm. The crank AB rotates at 75 rpm. Determine (a) velocity of ram, and (b) angular speed of slotted lever OC.

8. Find the velocity of point C in the mechanism shown in fig.8 by using relative velocity method. Crank O1A rotates at 20 rad/s clockwise. O1O2 = 350mm, O1A = 140mm, AB = 250mm, O2B = 210mm, BC = 100mm and AC = 160mm.
