    Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own paragraph)
    Prisons are dangerous because prisoners carry weapons. There are a lot of assaults in
    private prisons on inmates and prison workers. They also go on lockdown because of
    disturbances 10 times more than they used to. They also dont provide rehabilitation programs
    proven to reduce recidivism.
    President- Elect Trump wants to privatize prisons. Trump hired Senator Jeff Sessions for
    attorney general. The president-elect wants to privatize many other things like health services
    provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Trump has a lot of hope in privatizing things.
    Hospices are working for profit. They bolster profits at the expense of patient safety.
    Research found information that they switch from nonprofit to for-profit because they saw a
    sharp in profits and a rise in mortality rates 1 to 2 years after their conversion. In research they
    found that patients in for-profit nursing homes got heavier doses of sedatives than those in
    nonprofits got.

    I think it was ridiculous on how prison was so unsafe for workers and inmates. But now
    that Trump is going to be president, everything will have a positive change. He has
    already done so and he isnt even president yet.

    Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).
    San Quentin was the first for-profit prison in the U.S. Study found that states that used
    private prisons could save up to $15 million a year. These two events compare they both want to
    privatize prisons. I am having a very hard time finding out how they contrast, because they are
    very similar.

    This topic relates to political structures and economic structures. It relates because they
    are putting privatizing prisons and putting them at the top of the agenda. They are also making
    prison better.
