Structure of the blood tissue
Blood tissue is a connective tissue that has a fluid matrix called plasma, and no
fibers. Erythrocytes (red blood cell) the predominant cell type are involved in
transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Also present are various leukocytes
(white blood cell) involved in immune response.
Function of blood tissue
i) To supply oxygen to cells and other tissue .
ii) Presence of antibodies which defend us from infections and foreign bodies
iii) Supplies essential nutrients to cells such as amino acid, fatty acids and
glucose.
