VOICEOVER:
In our bodies, our cells total
trillions,
They multiply keeping us strong,
They divide, and most do this
perfectly,
But sometimes a cell can go wrong,

A cell, at its core, contains

chromosomes,
As humans, we have forty-six,
And new cells must mirror this
number,
By adding no more or no less to the
mix,

Our DNA is condensed into

Chromosomes,
An entire two metres in fact!
DNA tells the cell how to function,
What its for, what it does, how it
acts,

But cells cant divide ad

infinitum,
They have a limit - their telomere;
Which gets shorter with each new
division,
And signals an ending is near.

Its telomere gone, the cell knows

to die,
You might say Off goes the
switch,
But sometimes a cell decides
otherwise,
Producing a protein that triggers a
glitch.

The proteins called Ras, and now

the cell can divide
Without stopping, the cells make a
clump.
And these masses are sometimes
malignant
Forming a tumor a cancerous lump.

Cancer cells never just call it a

day,
Cancer cells divide more and more,

VOICEOVER: (CONT'D)
And not content with just making
tumors,
They have a habit of going off to
explore.

Chemotherapy interrupts their

division,
but singling out cells it cant do.
Chemotherapy is a serious measure
Because it damages the healthy
cells too.

But while temporary may be the

damage,
The cancer itself is defeated,
As new cells do just as instructed
and the glitch in the system?
Deleted.
