Dr. Aimee Beckmann-Collier Recommendation Letter
15,
2017
To
Whom
It
May
Concern:
I
am
pleased
to
recommend
Eve
Thomas
for
a
position
as
a
music
teacher
in
your
school
district.
I
have
known
Eve
for
four
years
and,
during
that
time,
have
worked
with
her
on
an
almost
daily
basis
since
she
has
been
a
member
of
the
Drake
Choir
and
Chamber
Choir,
which
I
conduct,
as
well
as
a
student
in
our
two-semester
sequence
of
conducting
classes,
which
I
teach.
She
has
also
served
as
the
alto
section
leader
for
both
Drake
Choir
and
Chamber
Choir
and
as
one
of
the
officers
of
our
student
chapter
of
the
American
Choral
Directors
Association,
for
which
I
am
the
faculty
advisor.
In
addition,
I
have
served
as
her
academic
advisor.
In
all
of
my
contacts
with
Eve,
I
have
been
impressed
with
her
intelligence,
musicianship,
self-discipline,
organizational
acumen,
and
her
integrity.
Eve
has
been
an
exceptional
student,
maintaining
a
4.0
GPA
in
a
rigorous
curriculum.
Last
spring
the
Music
Department
faculty
named
her
as
the
Presser
Scholar
for
the
2016-17
academic
year.
This
honor
is
given
to
only
one
senior
and
it
demonstrates
the
high
regard
in
which
our
faculty
hold
Eve
as
an
intelligent,
dedicated,
and
insightful
student.
In
addition
to
being
an
impressive
student,
Eve
is
an
exceptional
musician.
She
sings
beautifully
and
possesses
superior
skills,
including
sight-reading
and
listening.
As
a
rehearsal
leader,
she
demonstrates
astute
diagnostic
ability
and
is
able
to
employ
a
variety
of
teaching
strategies
to
improve
performance.
Among
all
the
students
who
have
been
members
of
our
conducting
classes,
I
would
rank
her
in
the
top
10%
with
regard
to
lesson
and
rehearsal
planning
and
the
ability
to
adapt
her
teaching
"in
the
moment,"
depending
on
students'
responses.
Eve
has
maintained
her
impressive
academic
record
in
the
midst
of
a
variety
of
other
activities,
including
an
internship
with
the
Heartland
Youth
Choir,
a
position
as
the
director
of
a
children's
choir
at
a
local
church,
leadership
as
an
officer
of
Drake
student
chapters
of
both
ACDA
and
Nafme
(National
Association
for
Music
Education),
and
while
working
daily
in
the
Music
Department,
where
she
was
responsible
for
producing
all
of
the
programs
for
the
more
than
150
concerts
sponsored
by
the
Music
Department
each
year.
Eve
is
one
of
the
most
organized
and
self-disciplined
students
I
have
known
in
my
twenty-eight
years
at
Drake
and
she
is
regarded
as
the
embodiment
of
responsibility
and
reliability.
Finally,
Eve
is
an
extremely
trustworthy
person.
She
is
mature
in
decision-making,
honors
confidentiality,
and
is
completely
honorable
in
every
situation.
Eve
is
passionate
about
music
education
and
I
firmly
believe
that,
with
such
passion,
coupled
with
her
obvious
expertise
and
desire
to
continue
learning,
she
will
be
a
leader
in
music
education
in
any
school
district
fortunate
enough
to
hire
her,
as
well
as
in
professional
organizations.
It
has
been
a
privilege
to
teach
Eve
and
I
offer
my
highest
recommendation
as
she
seeks
employment
in
a
field
in
which
she
will
undoubtedly
make
a
great
difference
in
the
lives
of
her
students.
I
would
be
happy
to
discuss
her
candidacy
at
greater
length,
should
that
be
helpful.
