Dear Admissions Committee,
I have had the privilege of working with Kassidy Todisco as her violin teacher and
conductor for the past 9 years. I would like to share some of my thoughts about Kassidy,
now that she has begun the high school admissions process.
When Kassidy began her violin studies at EMS at age 5, I could quickly tell that she was
going to become one of my most excellent and advanced students. Kassidy began her
violin studies at The Elisabeth Morrow School where her ability far surpassed her peers.
In the first grade, Kassidy wanted to accelerate her music studies by enrolling at The JCC
Thurnauer School of Music where she performs regularly as a part of the most advanced
violin ensemble at the school. Throughout the years, Kassidy has been consistently hard
working, talented, and serious. Kassidy emerged as a leader both in violin class and
within the school community. Because she pushed himself and had her own goals, she
often exceeded the ones I had made with her. For example, she often memorized pieces
before they were assigned to her, and was placed in groups with students who were
significantly older than she was. Kassidy had the unique ability to help both younger and
older students learn their music. This past summer, Kassidy worked three times a week
with one of my students who needed extra help and whose family did not have the
resources to afford lessons. Her modest, quiet and humble demeanor allowed her to excel,
while creating lasting friendships with her peers at all levels.
Kassidy auditioned for The Elisabeth Morrow School Summer String Festival at five
years old and was accepted into The Junior Ensemble program. During the past 8
summers, Kassidy has been a leader in every single one of the orchestras at the Festival.
At the age of 12, Kassidy began to study the viola and continued her violin studies. She
is a natural violist and fell in love with the viola sound. In 2014, Kassidy was awarded a
full scholarship to the Berkshire Summer Music Festival where she excelled on both
instruments. For the past two summers, Kassidy has been principal viola of The
Chamber Orchestra, which is the most advanced orchestra at The Festival. For this
upcoming summer, Kassidy was chosen by the faculty to be a counselor-in-training at the
festival. The faculty chooses only students at the very highest level of the program to fill
these positions.
Kassidy has been a member of The EMS Orchestra, The Chamber Orchestra and The
Superchamber Orchestra since the fifth grade. She is one of a handful of my students who
could handle such advanced repertoire as a fifth grader. During her years in the orchestras
she has played dozens of outreach concerts for organizations such as: The Jennas

Rainbow Foundation, The Southeast Senior Center, The Actors Home, Bergen Family
Center, Beyond Sandy, Hope for Haiti and The FEED foundation, to name a few. As a
member of The Superchamber Orchestra, Kassidy has opened up for Joshua Bell, Andre
Watts and this fast fall, Itzhak Perlman.
Kassidy will be an extraordinary asset to a high school community with a dynamic and
advanced orchestral program. As she has shown time and again during the past 9 years,
Kassidys passion and ability will enable her to excel. It has been a true privilege to work
with Kassidy and to witness her growth into the exceptional young adult she has become.
Please feel free to contact me if I may be of further assistance.
Sincerely,
Amelia Gold
