Equipment needed: A small bag of random familiar objects.

Activity Description:
size of group 6-10 people.
This activity can be done with any age group.
Sitting in a circle have each participant take turns describing an item given
to them from the bag. The participant then has one minute to describe the
item. If the person says the word "Um', pauses for more than five seconds, or
uses another word such as "and" or "so", they will sit down and wait until
the next round to participate. If the person is successful at describing the
item he/she will receive a point. Peers will be encouraged to raise their
hands if they hear "Um" or count five seconds of silence.

Leadership Considerations:
When working with participants with ADHD the facilitator should be near
the participants to help increase focus level. Ask participant questions like:
What color is it? What texture does it have? or Does it make any sounds?
For participants with a visual impairment or blindness, make sure that the
items in the bag are more sensory oriented. Items should be of different
textures, sounds, or smell. Also instead of a 5 second pause increase the
pause so that the participant has time to assess the item. This activity can
help increase concentration, improve vocabulary, and listening skills.
