This document provides instructions for an activity to help students understand the relationship between numbers and quantities by having them place the correct number of plastic frogs on foam lily pads with numerals from 1 to 10. The teacher places the lily pads and students count out and match the right number of frogs to each numeral, demonstrating their understanding of one-to-one correspondence between numbers and amounts.

Number Identification (Math)
Objective: To place the correct number of
objects to the corresponding numeral. Goal: To understand the relationship between numbers and quantities. K.CC.B.4. Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality. Instructional input: Teacher place a lillipad (numerals 1-10) and students will place the correct quantity of frogs to match the numeral.
Materials: foam lillipads and plastic frogs.
Checking for understanding: Does each student count starting at one? Does each student place the correct quantity of frogs to match the numeral? Differentiation: Depending on student, place the numeral only side up or the numeral plus dots side up.
