This document provides a lesson plan to teach students to count from one to ten by having them place fish manipulatives on their board as the teacher reads a story. As each new number is reached in the story, students will count aloud from the previous number up to the new number while touching each item counted. The teacher will check that each student is counting correctly from one and have students report the total number of fish at the end of the story.
