The meeting was called to order by President Scott Kummer

Announcements:
Upcoming Meetings:
February 14th Alisa Pulkamo will present on her Rotary experience. Outbound
students and their parents are invited to attend. Bring a guest Josh Johnson
February 21st Doug Koopman will have Matt Pershing coming to speak on his
past and upcoming mission trips to Nicaragua. Doug will circulate a list of needed
items he would like us to bring to this meeting to donate to Matt to take with him.
Bring a guest Brent Gollner.
March 11th District Assembly and DDF (District Designated Funds) training in
Kearney
o All new members (within past 2 years) are encouraged to attend 9:30-2:00
pm

Discussion Topics:

Leadership Hastings: Scott mentioned that the club was asked to sponsor a leadership
Hastings lunch and to come speak to the group. Scott would like to do this as it is a good
way to get our club some notice and reach younger potential members.

Paul Harris Points: Membership agreed to have a small committee (Dale Schultz, Doug
Koopman, and Cam Moyer) meet to review spreadsheet listing PH points available to
share with others. Sunrise agreed to strive for 100% Paul Harris Fellowship Club.
Suggestion was favorably received to schedule a Paul Harris Awards social event
including spouses and awardees.

Annual Rotary Golf Tournament: will be held Friday June 2nd at Southern Hills, Doug

will be looking for hole sponsors and teams at a future date. He encouraged Rotarians
to try and reach out to a few businesses outside of Rotary to become hole sponsors.

Joyce Schiffler Award: Dick Witt reported he had not heard back from the Noon Club
so the award will be sponsored by Hastings Sunrise Rotary and awarded in the Fall. He
is currently seeking recommendations for the award.

Membership discussed and agreed to follow through with a previously recommended


community service Tree Planting Project at Several Hastings Public Schools re-
construction sites. Jeff Schneider will provide a list of recommended sites for plantings
and types of trees.

Paula Witt urged the club to consider community service projects Rotarians could support
Contributing to the Unity Houses (Revive Ministries) Needs Lists
Organizing an E-Waste Collection Day in Hastings (Computer parts, old phones,
tablets.)

Sunrise Rotary is still in need of someone with computer skills to be able to update the
Club website and links.

Next meeting: Tuesday February 14th 2017 @ 7:00 A.M.
