Briefly describe your involvement in any Social Responsibility or Sustainable Development

activities
(maximum 150 words).
Social service has been an essential aspect in of my life. In college, I was a part of National Service
Scheme (NSS) an Indian government sponsored public service program during which I coordinated
Plastic free campus campaign which that helped reduce plastic usage in campus by 20 %.

When I moved to Bangalore, I saw how the effect of urbanization took its toll on the lakes in the city.
Seeing the state of the lakes I set a goal to help restore the lakes in the city. Participation in wake the
lake campaign by a volunteer organization was my starting step towards my goal. Later I promoted the
organization at Deloitte, getting 200 employees to join the cause. Additionally, I was appointed the
lead for lake rejuvenation activity at impact day-Deloittes community involvement program. My
involvement increased the programs employee participation by 50 %.

Briefly assess your career progress to date. Elaborate on your near-term (3-5 years) future
career objectives and how pursuing a Nanyang MBA will help you achieve these. (400

On my 23rd birthday, my manager gifted me the book Playing to Win by Lafley and Martin.
This book intrigued me and showed how precisely implemented strategies had have a massive
impact on an organization.
After graduating from college I was keen to work for an organization where I would be given a
have quality global exposure and an incredible work experience .Deloitte with its flat
organizational structure and excellent consulting practice was hence a clear choice for me.
At Deloitte, I was eager take up new roles to achieve new heights. Working with various clients I
gained deep insights into the technology, media and telecom industryies. I and showed developed
strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities. The last three and half years have been very
enriching during which I mastered various aspects of technology consulting. A fast track
promotion from an analyst to a consultant (tech lead?) is how I was rewarded by the management
for my performance ( try to make it active voice and u can maybe trim some words by doing
that). I received several accolades for excellent client service delivery and was awarded the
highest rating twice in the year-end performance evaluation, a feat achieved by a handful.
Following my elevation as a technology lead ( your resume says tech lead not promoted from
analyst to consultant ---u can mention your new job title only once as you did mention your new
title after promotion in previous para ) in a project, I got a glimpse of strategic consulting when I

participated in a business challenge event at Deloitte. This and that exposure to strategic
consulting at that event made me interested to learn more about such consulting practices .This
defined my interest goal to pursue this working with a firm such as Deloitte as a career post the
Nanyang MBA. As a consultant, I hope to identify critical business problems of my clients and
provide a technological resolution to such problems wherever possible. ( try to be little more
specific..Are there gaps in ur profile that will not help u make the jump directly from ur current
job ?...If no gap then why r u going for MBA?...What courses at Nanayang can help u train
urself to become a strategic consultantSee my essays where I tried to explain why my current
career cant help me ans what courses can make a product managerSince u r not changing
career anf field the college will think there is no point for u to do MBA)
As this role demands working with clients in various geographical regions, understanding
various cultures and economies would make me an effective leader. Nanyangs unique Leading
people globally module is tailor made for this requirement. In addition, the Business Study
Mission will provide me a global exposure (insights into the industry) by working with top
executives of an organization. Nanyangs strong industry knowledge in the Asian context will
provide me deep insight into this the emerging and robust Asian market.
By teaming up with students from diverse backgrounds, the Strategy Project at Nanyang will
provide an excellent opportunity to put my learning acquired knowledge into practice by
working on real time problems, allowing me to learn different perspectives to a solution.
I believe the strong consulting skills that I was able to garner at Deloitte combined with the
learning attained by the strategy and innovation-MBA program will provide an ideal platform for
achieving my short term goals.
Tell us about two achievements (one personal and one professional) that you are most
proud of, and why you feel that to be so 400
A few years after releasing a technology solution to users across the globe, we started getting
negative feedback about the performance of the solution. As a consultant, I wanted to improve our
customer experience while minimizing the cost incurred in the process. I was fazed by the
challenge of how to identify the bottlenecks in the system primarily because this application has a
dependency on 3 third party vendors and multiple teams within Deloitte.
For fine tuning the application I needed a mechanism which that could give us the time taken by
various components in the system. After two months of hard work, I came up with a framework
that helped our team identify bottlenecks in the solution.
Once we implemented the changes as per the framework, the system performance improved by
71.5%. Deloitte The management and our client were thrilled by the value I provided and
Deloitte rewarded me with an applause award officially awarded me. The value I provided gave

our client the confidence to provide a budget of 4 M$ for subsequent upgrades. This achievement
gave me an immense sense of satisfaction as I was able to make a huge impact to the client and
Deloitte.
In this competitive world, we are sometimes unable to help our friends due to commitments. those
willing to go the extra mile and lend a helping hand to others understand the happiness of sharing
success.
My friend was excellent at work but had an average proficiency in English, which impacted his
client communication. In order for him to get promoted he needed to get the highest proficiency
score in the Versant language test. Even though he had given the test thrice, he wasnt successful
in achieving the desired result. He approached me with this issue and told me how much this
promotion meant for him and his family. Despite me working for 14 hours a day on a tight
schedule, I decided to hard to the help him achieve his goal. I sat with him every day for 40
minutes after my office hours and coached him with all the experience I had. I observed him take
tests online which helped me identify his flaws. My experience in taking the GMAT helped me
teach him effective approaches to solve questions quickly.
After a month of preparation, he took the test and got the required marks necessary for promotion.
The happiness on his face after seeing the result will forever remain etched in my memory. This
brought an immense sense of satisfaction to me and made me understand how personal
commitments play a huge role in my life.
How do you anticipate contributing to the Nanyang MBA Program and your fellow
participants? It may be helpful to share experiences from your past where you have been
able to do something similar. (400 word limit)
As I lived in Kuwait and India, where one can see diverse cultures living side by side,
understanding and appreciating such differences in people is something that I thoroughly enjoy.
My tenure at Deloitte required collaborative work with client and team members spread across the
Europe, Asia and North America. This enriching experience of working in an inter-departmental
setting will allow me to efficiently work with my fellow classmates on various team oriented
programs such as Business Study Mission and the Strategy Project at Nanyang.
I understand from current students that the corporate social responsibility club can offer me a lot
of opportunities to do community(try to rephrse it ..community involvement?). I would like to be
a part of this club and would like to do an outreach program in rural India. Only 9 % of the Indian
population currently has access to Internet. With a lot of programs running in parallel to provide
internet connectivity in rural India, there is a need to provide basic computer training to the lesser
privileged. Taking up this responsibility would be a great feat for the CSR club and also for
Nanyang. ( so u want to do train villagers to use internet..then why do u want to give statistics on
internet penetration ?..give statistics on how much rural india knows about computer)

With the strong experience I have in the technology consulting domain, I would like to share with
technology consulting club the various value additions I have provided to my client. This club
will also provide an excellent opportunity for me to learn success stories and apply that
knowledge to my future endeavors. At Deloitte I led a team at a nationwide business challenge in
which our strategic solution for a telecom client ( try using Indias largest telecom company)
was shortlisted as one of the top 10 ideas. Having loved that experience, I wish to introduce
similar events that would bring out the leadership skills in students at Nanyang.
As the house captain in high school I organized several sporting events. Additionally, I captained
my Electronics branch basketball team to reach third place at a intramural competition in
college . Furthermore, at Deloitte, I was able to set up a sports club at the Bangalore office. With
this experience, I wish to actively contribute to the sports club at Nanyang and be an active
participant in the Nanyang MBA Olympics.
With such experiences I feel I will be able to contribute to the strong diversity and
extracurricular culture seen at Nanyang.
