Procedures
In our daily lives, we always deal with procedures. For example, at school students
apply procedures when they conduct an experiment or apply for scholarship. At home,
we carry out procedures when cooking fried noodles or rice. We can also find procedural
texts in written forms. For example, when we buy a calculator, well get a small book
informing how to operate the calculator. This book is usually called a manual. So, what
do you know about procedures? Youll learn the text type in this unit, including its
grammatical features and structure.

Balloon and Straw
A bendy straw can make any balloon spin.
Materials Needed:
balloons
bendy straws
rubber bands
scissors
Instructions:
1. First, cut about two inches off the bottom of the bendy
straw.
2. Next, blow up a balloon. Put the opening of the balloon
around the bottom of the straw. Hold onto the balloon and
straw so that you dont let any air out.
3. While holding the balloon and straw, wrap
a rubber band around the balloon so that the balloon stays
in place.
4. Then, bend the top of the straw, put the balloon on the table,
let it go, and watch what happens.
Explanation:
In order for the air to get out of the balloon, the air has to
turn the corner in the bendy straw. When the air turns the corner,
it pushes on the straw and the straw pushes back on the air. The
straw then pushes on the balloon and look what happens to the
balloon.

You will need: table salt, a large glass, an egg, a teaspoon,
a dessert spoon and water.
How to do it:
1. We half fill the glass with water. Then, using the dessert
spoon, we carefully put the egg in water. The egg sinks to
the bottom.
2. Now we add 10 tablespoons of salt in water and mix
thoroughly to make brine.
3. We put the egg in the water again. The egg floats.
4. We take the egg out and slowly fill the glass totally.
5. We put in the egg again. The egg remains suspended in the
center of the glass.

Method:
Rinse the chicken. Place the chicken in a bowl and add

bowl into an oven and boil over medium-high heat.
Its good to have fruit juice in the morning. You can have
apple juice, melon juice or even orange juice.
Lets see how to make apple juice. The first thing you have
to do is to prepare the blender. Wash and clean it first with fresh
water. Next, prepare a clean and sharp knife. You need it to cut
the apple. Then, wash the apple or apples as many as you wish.
Cut them into pieces. After that, put those slices into the blender.
Add some ice cubes if you like. Turn on the ON button and
push the button 1, 2 or 3. You may add some sugar if you want
to. When you finish, pour the apple juice into glasses. The juice
is ready to serve.
