Volunteering
I.
Introduction
1. Attention material:a. ( shows video)
b. Can you imagine how many people would be suffering each day with out
57357 hospital ? with out Magdy Yacoubs hospital ? with out Resala
Charity organization ? with out volunteers running these huge humane
entities ?
2 .Orienting material :
a."A pessimist, they say, sees a glass of water as being half empty; an optimist
sees the same glass as half full. But a giving person sees a glass of water and
starts looking for someone who might be thirsty.
b. Statics according to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology show
that since 2012 volunteers rate declines along time. To hit its lowest of all
time rate in 2015. While people in need and poverty rates increase, resulting in
an unstable community.
c. Through personal experience in one of the charity organizations as a
volunteer manager, I have realized that volunteers who apply lately are of
young age and those who are more educated are less likely to volunteer.
3. Central idea:
a. We should volunteer to support the general welfare of ourselves, our
communities and our world.
II. Body
I. Need: The problems in our community are great and affect us all.
A. Families living in poverty in our community have significant needs, which need to be
addressed.
1. This increased rate of poverty has been especially tough on the children.
a. There has been an increase in preventable childhood diseases
b. At the same time, standardized test scores for these children have been
decreasing.
2. Because of the increased levels of poverty in our community, shelters and food
pantries are over capacity.
3. The crime rates in our community have increased due to the increases in poverty.
a. The local paper reports a 14% increase in petty theft of property.
b. The community police report that many of these increased thefts are
due to people pawning stolen property to pay for food and medicine.
Transition: Clearly our local community is in great need, but fortunately there are
many ways to solve some of these problems.
II. Satisfaction: If we all agreed to volunteer at least once a month to help out those in need,
many of the problems could be alleviated.
III Conclusion
1.Summary :
a. It is not money that changes the world, but people.
b. Volunteering is not about the cause but the need.
2.Clincher: Volunteer dont necessary have the time, they just have the heart.
