Dear Parishioners,
Today we celebrate the Feast of Jesus Christ, our Lord and King of the Universe. Its
hard to believe we have already arrived at the last Sunday of the Churchs year next
Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent.
Our first reading gives the image of a Son of Man often referred to the coming of
the Messiah, Jesus himself. All authority is his because all things were made through him,
in heaven and on earth.
Jesus is the faithful witness Jesus is the alpha and omega the beginning and the
end (apocalypse).
In the gospel, we see Jesus before Pilate giving witness to the TRUTH. Pilate has the
power to set Jesus free he can find no wrong in him, yet sentences him to death!
What is truth is the question that follows todays dialogue passage.
This is the eternal question Because, truth, conviction, ideals etc., are often in the
mind of the individual and so can be very narrow in the interpretation hence conflict.
When we see the violence around us and in the light of the Paris and other
atrocities, we know people can be doing evil deeds in the conviction they are doing right!
Hence the truth and witness of Jesus is the key for us. It is his truth and Kingship we
celebrate today.
PARIS CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND OUR CYCLE RIDE: After much
deliberation and consultation, we have decided to go ahead with the cycle plan Phase II.
Having done London to Newhaven in August, we now set out on Tuesday Dieppe to Paris.
The atrocities of Friday 13th and subsequent activities cast a cloud over Paris and all
of humanity really.
Please pray for our safety; for the witness we can give over the three das cycle;
attending the service in Notre Dame; the Rally and meetings with other groups etc., that all
of this will support our International Leaders to work towards binding agreements which
will help save our common home.
Please have a look at some of the information on the implication of the Paris
Conference and how the outcome will affect future generations.
We hope to keep you posted on events over the coming days.
Thats all for now, have a good week. God bless.
Fr Joe
