Daily Writing:
Week One 6/30

Mom- studied with me & did homework together
Brother- Wanted to be able to read like him so i payed attention to
how he pronounced things also having an older brother made me
understand things more because i always looked up to him and
competed with him.
My family- very outspoken people.
Arabic teacher- used to call on random student to go to the board
and read & if you get it wrong she used to slap your hand with a
ruler in front of the entire class.
Ms. Catherine- ESL teacher, taught me how to speak english by
showing lots and lots of pictures

The most significant place that shaped my literacy narrative would
have to be my dinning room table. I used to do all of my homework
and study on there. Right when I walked in Id find my mom waiting
on me and we would go to the dinning room, where Id find a stack
of books and notebook paper to practice on.

I remember in middle school i used to get so excited when it was
book fair week. My favorite part about the book fair was the
selection of books they had and really awesome goodies, for
example cool rulers, erasers, and pens. I remember i used to look
for books with attractive covers on them, i didnt really care what
genre the book was or what it was about but if the cover of the book
attracted me then i wanted it.

My favorite book when I was a child was When you give a mouse a
cookie. It was a really cute book and had lots of pictures. I loved
reading it before bed and would even put it under my pillow
sometimes. My dad would read it with me and the same way the
mouse would ask for milk after getting a cookie I would ask my dad
get me cookies and milk.

My first time I used a computer was in 2nd grade at home. We had
just moved to America and we needed a computer to talk to our
family back home. I remember my dad had paid someone to install it
and go over basic features about the computer. Once we had the
computer I would go on there and play barbie games, that became
one of my favorite things to do.

I have a literacy connection with Zach the most. He wants to
become a lawyer even though hes in an environment where its
not supported at all and near impossible. I grew up in a similar
environment where I was expected to only grow up to marry and be
a stayed home mom. I never wanted to do that, I wanted to be a
doctor when I was 8 years old and that was near impossible to be a
female christian doctor in Egypt.

Our topic is about the the football program at UNC Charlotte. I want
to search about how the program came about and what steps had to
be made for the football program to be made. Some of the
questions I have is who contributed to making it happen? and why
was the football program cancelled?. I love watching football and
would like to learn more about it.

Zora Hurston said Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and
prying with a purpose . This stands out to me because every time I
research something its with a purpose of wanting to know more
about it. Its a way for us to get our questioned answered. You have
to also look at multiple websites to get an answer.

Ive never really had a peer that gave me back an appropriate
criticism or suggest anything that would help improve my paper.
What I have received in the past are comments like its really good,
they might add a few commas here and there but thats about it.
I admit when Im peer reviewing someones paper I get shy to tell
them if its a bad paper, I dont want to offend anyone by doing so.

I dont think its possible for work to always be error free. Were all
humans and prone to making mistakes. Also if you didnt necessarily
make any mistakes on your work, theres always room for it to be
better. No matter with what training you have youll always be
learning how to make things better therefore its never perfect.

While doing research I personally like going on endless websites and

see which ones best suits best my questions. For example when Im
researching about new hair products to use I look at the reviews
and comments under that product. That validates if its a good
product or not for me to use. When Im researching for a paper I use
google scholar to find really good articles about the subject.

I would open the door to go to Hogwarts. I want to meet Harry
Potter and learn how to do magic spells. We become friends and he
gives me his magic stick to use and I made a spell to over through
the mean dictator and become the ruler of the place and taught the
students how to do magic my way and use it for good. All the
students love me and we have a big feast to celebrate.

We had a guest speaker at my church about mission trips. I loved
his presentation because of his pictures and videos of previous
mission trips. He appealed to my emotions by the stories
and encouraging words. He made me want to go on a mission
trip really bad. By his engaging sound of his voice and how excited
he was about made me feel that way as well.

One of the hardest decisions I had to make was to decide
what University I wanted to go to. I had options between Ecu, Uncc
and Nc State. I remember being so torn about the decision because I
liked all three schools. I talked to my parents a lot about it and we
had to narrow it down to what school would be best for me. We
went on tours of the schools and I really like UNCC campus. All of my
friends, brother and cousin are at Ecu and I had to make the
decision to leave my comfort zone to attend Unc Charlotte, where
I didnt know anyone.

I need to ask for help withcreated the powerpoint. Everyone in my
group has done their research and weve broken it up on who is
going to focus on what. Now its time to get together with them and
put our individual parts together to create the powerpoint.

The morning after it snowed I was sure school would be cancelled
but we got a two hour delay instead. I had a Math test and I thought
my teacher wouldnt give it since classes are going to be short. Well
come to my surprise the teacher gave out the test in two parts, one
part for today and the other part the next day. This taught me to
always be prepared no matter what and dont put my studies off.

In the wallet there was a a little bag of drugs. The man didnt want
to be caught with that kind of the thing so he dropped the wallet
back on the ground and walked away.
