All classes have started very well and looking back over the past month, it is amazing just what has been
undertaken and achieved. Thank you for a delightful cohort of Year 7 & Year 8 students. There is a positive and
happy feel to the school and that is exactly the way everyone wants it to be!
BLEDISLOE PARK
Does your son or daughter walk to school or walk home and cross through Bledisloe Park, and in particular the
area closest to the High School, John St? If so, can you please talk with them about coming straight to school
and going straight home. The area mentioned is receiving close scrutiny from the New Zealand Police because
of issues with groups of older persons hanging around and the potential for drug dealing and other problems
developing. I am not suggesting Intermediate students are mixed up in this, I am just asking you to have a talk
with your son or daughter about the need to be safe wherever one is.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The next BOT meeting for the Intermediate School is Monday 22 February. This will be at 5 30pm in the school
management centre. You are most welcome to attend. May 2010 is election time for Boards of Trustees across
New Zealand. The Intermediate School would like to assist with sharing information about being a BOT
member. Please contact myself, 238 6568, ext 801 if you would like to find out about the roles and
responsibilities for being a Board member and the process for becoming one.
It is also school policy for students to wear approved footwear and for boys and girls this is any totally black
shoe and / or roman type sandals. Students with incorrect footwear that is not explained by a parent note, are
asked to go bare foot during the school day.
CELL PHONES
Students hand in cell phones, iPods and other digital devices by 8 40am and students collect them at hometime.
If a student decides not to follow the school procedures, the item will be confiscated and a letter sent home
asking a parent or caregiver to come into school and collect the item.
UNSW EXAMINATIONS
Once again our students are being offered the opportunity to sit the UNSW exams. Entry forms for the exams
will be available from the Student Centre next week. Entry forms need to be completed and back at school with
payment for all exams being sat, no later than Friday 26 March. (N.B no late entries will be accepted).
Students will also be informed of this. (Please note, the University has increased the cost of the writing exam
this year.) The sitting dates and costs for this year’s exams are:
