Adolescent Dissociative Experiences

Scale-II (A-DES)

Scoring the Adolescent Dissociative Experience Scale

Initial validation research reported a mean score of 4.8 for dissociative adolescents (S.D. 1.1). Armstrong et al. (1997) concluded that a score of 3.7 would be
concerning and suggestive of significant dissociation. A Turkish sample found a
mean score of 6.2 among dissociative adolescents (S.D. 1.98), a mean score of
3.94 among adolescents with PTSD (S.D. 1.54), and the non-clinical group, mood
disorders group, and anxiety disorders groups had mean scores hovering around
2.4 (Zoruglu et al., 2002).

DIRECTIONS
These questions ask about difference kinds of experiences that happen to people.
For each question, circle the number that tells how much that experience happens
to you. Circle a 0 if it never happens to you, circle a 10 of it is always happening to you. If it happens sometimes but not all of the time, circle a number between 1 and 9 that best describes how often it happens to you. When you answer,
only tell how much these things happen when you HAVE NOT had any alcohol or
drugs.
