This has reference to the news item tiger in the bathroom in your newspaper yesterday. Such news items have
become common these days. We hear not only of tigers but cheetahs and elephants too, making in roads into
villages. This is a disturbing phenomenon. Villagers find it difficult to venture out of their homes after sunset. The
livestock in the villages is also at risk.
The main reason for such incidents is the cutting down of forests fro meeting the needs of our growing
population. If we encroach on the forests and destroy them, forest animals will be forced to come out of forests I
search of food and water. Forest animals cannot be blamed for this. It is we who have to take responsibility for this
and find a solution. First, we should take up afforestation programmes in a big way and try to increase the forest
area. Moreover, we should encourage vertical expansion rather than horizontal expansion in our villages. If we do
this, I an am sur such incidents will soon become a thing of the past.

regarding the bad condition of roads. Except the main road, all the internal roads are full of ditches. In
our locality, vasavi Nagar not even a single road is in good shape. Some of the roads are full of potholes.
Some of the drains are always overflow. This is creating a lot of problem to the vehicular traffic. Even
pedestrians are suffering a lot.
When the rain falls, we can see many pools on the road itself. It is positively dangerous even the
pedestrains. There is an urgent need for repairing them.
I hope the responsible authorieties will wake up to the situation and redress.
