A Level study. Their first day
however was spent on a selfie
treasure hunt around the
magnificent St. Ives Park in Bingley.
Students had to follow a trail map,
collect treasure and also find the
elusive Bingley gorilla.
Some students were too afraid to
venture into the mist of Bingleys
mountains but with the
encouragement and support of their
fellow students they managed to
overcome their fears and bond like
never before.
One student said, It has been a truly
remarkable experience, Ive seen a
horse in Haworth and a cow in Colne
but a Gorilla in Bingleynow thats
really something!
Another student when asked about
how the day had helped her to
prepare for her A level studies said,
That is just so obvious I wont even
answer it! This girl is going to go far.
She gets it!
Unfortunately Mrs Laughlin, the
heart, soul and life of the Sixth Form
was unavailable for comment on the
day.

forward to two wonderful years with
you all.

On September 16
th
HolyFamilySixth had
their very own fire drill. Some year 13s
had complained that the sixth form
often looked a little ragged at the time
of a fire drill and they did not like it one
little bit. They felt the best legacy they
could leave behind this year was to have
immaculate, sharp lines at the school
fire drill.
One student commented, We want
sharp, tidy lines that reflect our intellect
and potential, you know a bit like the
SAS. So we had our very own drill!


At the start of September the student
leaders in the 6
th
form were appointed.
So far they have delivered speeches at
year 6 open evening, spoken at year 11
assembly & more!





WORRY
The fire drill caused
a great deal of worry
for some students
however as the very
same day it was
planned, we also had
photographs for our
new ID cards. Juliet
Brown sought out
Mrs Laughlin and Mrs Layas to see if
there was a contingency plan for staying
gorgeous in the wind and rain.
Mrs Layas suddenly realised there was
no contingency plan whatsoever and
called an emergency COBRA meeting
with the 6
th
form team. Hairdryers and
straighteners were put on stand-by and
mirrors were ordered. In the event these
were not needed as we were blessed
with warm, dry and wind free weather.
Later that day the sixth form impressed
when they got to put their immaculate,
sharp lines into action once again when
the sixth form school photographs were
taken.



They are currently planning their
assemblies which are to be delivered
during Remembrance Week to yrs 7-11



Both Mrs Keenan and Mrs Kitt were
astounded at the speed with which the
whole 6
th
Form photograph and the
individual photographs were completed.
I couldnt believe the sharp, immaculate
tidy lines, she said, I may have to sit
down and have a rest. It really has been
quite breathtaking! Mrs Keenan has
recorded the time in The Holy Family
Book of Records.
Well done 6th Formers. This may well
have been your finest hour.




They are also planning their CAFOD
concert.







AMYERSING THE REAL DRILL!
Outstanding, incredible, amyersing!
Mrs Myers took her tutor groups register and
noted the missing students in the sixth form in
an incredible 6.7 seconds. She had done this
before most of the school had even left the
building! She was awarded the prestigious
FIREMAN SAM award.

New tutors, new students
Most still with a grin.

All have settled well
Into sixth form life,
But timetable issues
Still causing us strife.

A trip to St Ives
For yr12 induction day

And lots of play.

Tutor time quizzes
And our fire drill fun,
Dodgeball is coming
So get ready to run!

A new sixth form lounge
For when you are free,
Look after it though,
Or there will be a fee!

Yr13 are back
With their eyes on UCAS
Which uni? Which course?
They're just hoping they pass.

They worked hard last year
And deserve to do well,
Yr12 take note,
They've good advice to tell.

Exams and coursework are there to
test,
But all we ask is you do your best.
Organisation and commitment is the
key to success,
Hard work and effort if you want to
progress.

And so good luck to you all
In whatever you do,
We will help if we can,
But it's all down to you.

Bradford Youth Service visit to school
12KLA raised
180 in just 15
minutes.
AMAZING!

The start of the Autumn Term has seen
our annual push on giving back to our school
community and wider community. We have
been overwhelmed with your response!
So far we have over 20 students supporting
in lessons in the lower school, helping
students to get the best out their learning
working alongside the class teacher.
We have also had our annual visit from
Bradford Youth Service and 15 students
have joined up to volunteer and will be
starting on their work in and around Bradford
after half term.
We have also been visited by the
government run National Citizen Service.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is open to
all 16 and 17-year-olds in England. It helps
you build your skills for work and life, while
you take on new challenges and meet new
friends. It runs in the spring, summer and
autumn. Youll have a short time away from
home and take part in a team project that
will help your community.
NCS brings together young people from
different backgrounds and helps them
develop greater confidence, self-awareness
and responsibility. It encourages personal
and social development by working on skills
like leadership, teamwork and
communication.
Participants develop a social action project to
deal with a local issue theyre passionate
about, and spend 30 hours putting the
project into action in their community. We
have a number of students taking part this
autumn. If you missed this session you can
still sign up now for spring or summer!






Mrs Laughlins Primary school Assistants
Every year we have a number of students who go out and work with our
primary feeder schools. This year we have 8 students helping. Last week
Juwariyah Ghazi was at St. Annes when an Ofsted inspector was
present. The inspector highly commended Juwariyah on her work with
the pupils and the Headteacher has also noticed how talented she is!

ROMA!
In October a group of sixth form
students travelled to Rome as part
of the celebrations for 50 years of
THFCS. The students were a real
credit to the school and Mr
Metcalfe said it was the best school
visit he had ever been on and hes
been on quite a few!

Insha In Indonesia
Insha Ali in year 13 is currently in Indonesia with our partner
school. She is having a fantastic time and sent these
pictures to us yesterday. Is she signing autographs?!?!?!
