Israel
Israel is a country in the Middle East,
a region in the west of Asia (not including the Caucasian countries) consisting of mostly Arab countries and some countries which are not part of Asia, but still in the Middle East, such as Egypt and Turkey. The capital city of Israel is Jerusalem, the holy land of Christians and Jews. It has a small population of around 7,821,850 people and they drive on the right side of the road. Their main languages are Hebrew and Arabic. Boker tov is hello in Hebrew and 'll is hello in Arabic. The ethnic groups are mostly Jewish and the rest are mostly born in Europe or the United States. If you go there, your currency will be the Israeli new shekel which is worth only 29 cents. The star on the flag represents the Star of David, also known as the Shield of David and the Jewish Star which is located in between the two blue lines. History The people of Israel tend to trace their origin back to Abraham, the person who began the story that there is only one God. God had an agreement with Abraham in approximately 2000 BC. God said I will make you into a great nation. The name Israel comes from a new name he gave Abrahams grandson. At this point, ancestors of Abraham are offen referred as the children of Israel. But God already had the selection of Israel as the special nation which was part of his plan from the beginning of time.
Culture & Traditions The modern day country of Israel includes two unmistakable nationalities, the Palestinian and the Jewish. The Palestinians are Arabs whose traditions are established in Muslim culture; the Jewish people have tradition that also comes from their religion which is Judaism. Each culture has a history in the country that goes all the way back to ancient times.
Celebrations/Festivals There a lot of celebrations/festivals in Israel. Most of them are Jewish celebrations, such as Passover which is celebrated to remember the Children of Israel broke free from slavery and were led out of Egypt by Moses. Another Jewish celebration is Rosh Hashanah which is the Jewish New Year. It marks the Jewish New Year and the ten and starts with ten days of repentance and self-examination. There are many other festivals which are celebrated at different times of year such a Hanukkah. On your right is a Menorah used in Hanukkah. Hanukkah begins in the evening of December 16 th and ends in the evening of December 24 th . One candle from the Menorah is lit every day. On the left of the page is a picture of a dreidel which is used to play the dreidel game during Hanukkah.
Wildlife
Israel is home to many species of animals which can include both temperate and desert species of hedgehogs, European and desert foxes, Mediterranean horseshoe bats, Be'er Sheba fringe fingered lizard, Asian garden dormice, Egyptian mongoose, Caspian turtles, Indian crested porcupines, African softshell turtles, Arabian oryx, Mt Hermon mice, Cape Hares, Persian squirrels, Balkan emerald lizards, and European otters. All of these animals will amaze you and mystify you. One of these animals are the Arabian Oryx, show on the right of the page. It is a medium with a well-defined shoulder bump, long, straight horns and a tufted tail.
Climate Half of Israels climate are deserts, if you go to the far north it is pretty cold due to the mountains being very close by, there is a lot of grassland and forest near the coast and the eastern border and a few big lakes are located in the east.
National Sport The national sport of Israel is soccer. Soccer has been part of the culture of Israel since the modern state existed. Israelites really like to play soccer and always play each other. They have a national soccer league and parts of Israel play each other every year. But in Israel, they call it football.
Tourism Israel has a lot to offer those who love very ancient history. The type of people that would enjoy this place are Christians and Jews because it includes Jerusalem, which is the holy land where Jesus lived among his disciples. Israeli accommodations are fairly cheap. The hotels are around and average of 300 Israeli new shekels which is equal to 84 USD, 91 AUD and 51 GBP (British Pounds). Israel is pretty high in tourism. In 2013, 623,000 Americans and 20,000 Australians visited Israel. Most people visit Jerusalem for tourism because of all the historical features, such as the Tower of David on your right and the Garden of Gethsemane on your left which is where Jesus and his disciples prayed before Jesus was captured and sentenced to death. The best time to visit Israel is from April all the way to November because then you find hot summer days and you have nice beaches.
Health and Security When you visit Israel, it is highly required that you exercise a high degree of caution, which would mean you should be more cautious about where you go. Do not go to the Gaza Strip at all, and you might want to reconsider your need to travel when you go to places like the West Bank, including Bethlehem, Jericho and Ramallah and any areas within 24.84 miles (40 kilometers) of the border with the Gaza Strip. Education in Israel is very good because out of the entire population of Israelites over 15, 97.1% have a good education (Also, there is 98.5% male and 95.9% female have a good education over 15). As you probably already know, Israel is in a civil war right now. This civil war started in WWII, when the Jewish were being treated really badly by the Nazis. A lot of these Jews decided to go to the land promised to them by God (which is Jerusalem) and settle a Jewish country. But the Palestinians were living the country which was called Palestine. The Palestinians werent sure about giving some of their land to the Jews but then they were convinced by other countries to let them have some land because of them being treated badly, and gave the Jewish some land. When the Jewish created a new government and called the nation Israel the kept on making the nation bigger and started pushing the Palestinians to what is now known as the Gaza Strip, so now and then there are rockets/missiles being fired back and forward throughout the nation. The mortality rate is 3 children dying every 1000 births which is twice as less as the United States infant mortality rate and very similar to the Australian mortality rate. As a conclusion, you need to be careful about where you visit in Israel.
Trade Israels trading industries are a bit complicated because a lot of countries are saying that they will boycott Israel if they dont stop firing rockets/missiles. Israels top two trading partners are the United States and Great Britain. 23% of Israels imports and exports go to the United States which is 9.5 billion dollars each year; 8.6% go to Great Britain which is 3.5 billion dollars each year. Australia is the 17 th best trading partner and only 1.7% of Israels imports and exports which only makes 712 million dollars every year. Most of Israels imports are refined petroleum, machines, chemical products, cars and metals. Some imports are plastic, rubbers, instruments, diamonds, textiles, vegetable products and foodstuffs. They also import very little animal products, paper goods, miscellaneous, stone, glass, wood products, animals, vegetable bi-products, footwear, headwear and animal hides. Israels exports are slightly different, they are mostly medicaments. They export some instruments, refined petroleum, plastic, rubber, diamonds, vegetable products, transportation, metals, textiles and foodstuffs. They also export very little bit of stone, glass, paper goods, miscellaneous, weapons, animal hides, footwear and hardware. Israeli people get a pretty good payment which is 14,157 Israeli New Shekels (3,795 USD) per month for the Jewish. The Arabs/Palestinians earn 8,151 Israeli New Shekel (2,185 USD). A lot of Israels industries are to do with weapons so there may be a lot of people working for these companies. Thank you for reading this information report on Israel, I hope it has helped you a lot and has taught you about the amazing things Israel has in store for you.
