Full court dribble test In the game of basketball, the triangle of offensive skills with the ball are

dribbling, passing, and shooting. With dribbling, players need to be able to dribble the full length of the floor at full speed. Another necessary component of dribbling is being able to change directions on the court and dribble with each hand. Physical fitness components include muscular speed. Motor fitness components are balance and coordination. 1) Set up a) Players are tested one by one b) Cones are set up on the outside of the key throughout the length of the court from baseline to baseline c) Start is behind the baseline and players finish when they baseline on their way back 2) Instructions a) Players are to dribble up the floor starting behind the baseline on the whistle b) When players reach the other baseline, they are to touch it with one of their hands while dribbling the ball with the other hand c) Once they touch the baseline with their hand, they must dribble back to the baseline where they started d) Time will be recorded when players cross the baseline 3) Rules a) Players must stay within the lanes of the key when dribbling b) Players must dribble and not pick up the ball once the test has started i) If players throw the ball out and chase after it, their time will be marked with an X ii) If players pick up the ball before they finish they test, carry, double dribble, kick the ball, or move up the floor in any illegal way as defined by IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball, Inc. Officials) and/or FIBA (International Basketball Federation), they will be marked with an X (1) If a player violates any of the rules set above, the test will be stopped immediately and players will be asked to go again when they are ready. c) Players who finish the test but are ruled that they did not touch the line according to the line judge shall be marked with an X and will redo the test when they are ready. d) Players are allowed to dribble with any hand going up the court and are allowed to switch hands when dribbling. e) Players that past the baseline on the other side, dribbling or stepping out of bounds, or dribble out of the lanes must stop the test immediately, will be marked with an X, and redo test when able f) Players who accumulate three Xs shall be given a score of zero. 4) Testing protocol a) Players not being tested must wait in designated waiting area b) Testers shall take 2 testers at a time

i) One to warm-up, and one to be tested ii) Once one is finished testing, the one warming up will be tested next and testers will call next subject to be tested. iii) If a player gets an X, the player is given a 1min grace period to recover for the retest. (1) If the player does not wish to use the grace period, they are allowed to be retested right away c) Players who have Xs on their test shall have 25% of their final T-score subtracted from it 5) Testing Procedure a) Personnel & Roles: i) Starter (1) Blows whistle to initiate test for timers and players ii) Timers (1) 2 timers (2) Positioned at start and finish (a) Players finish where they start (3) Final time is average of two iii) Line judge (1) Two line judges (a) One positioned at opposite baseline (b) Other positioned along half court (2) Monitors position of dribble to check for carrying, double dribbles, traveling, or any other violation (3) Alerts players when they have violated via whistle or vocal signal (4) Starter can optionally fill in as a line judge 6) Materials a) Basketballs b) Cones c) Whistles 7) Diagram
