Type of Work: Indy Product: Word Doc/Embedded Class Time: 1 Period Class/1 HW EOC: Embed/Snip (Lesson 6) Due: 3 Periods
Concept: Below are some of the most recent developments related to reproductive health in our society. Your job will be to provide an
analysis of these developments. As we discussed in the beginning of the unit sex ed is a values driven topic. These issues are inherently
controversial themselves because although there are facts that may help you understand them; ultimately you see these facts through the
prism of your own perception (values, morals, upbringing, etc.)! The sources listed are just a starting point, remember that any information
may be biased and it is your job as an educated consumer to carefully analyze information for validity, reliability, and bias.
Goal: Provide an analysis of the recent developments in reproductive health demonstrating an understanding of content specific information
necessary to understand each issue (ie. What strains are protected against in the HPV vaccine, approved locations for the Safe Haven law).
Complete each level (not just 1) working from top/down based on level attempted.

Level 5/Extra Credit/Going Beyond: Define Herd Immunity and explain how it applies to the debate. Herd Immunity is providing immunity and protection for people who
haven’t fully developed or received proper vaccination. It’s related to this project by trying to control the spread of HPV from engaging in sexual activities and spreading it to their
partners. And so having proper vaccination can help prevent the spread of HPV from both males and females alike.

Level 5: How is this similar/different than the ‘abortion’ pill (RU-486)? Difference – RU-486 allows a woman under 7 weeks pregnant to abort pregnancy. Effective and painless

Level 5: How do state laws vary on this? Time Frames vary between from person to person from 3 to 60 days. States say that there are specific designated buildings to drop off
the babies, unharmed. California requires up to 3 Days to drop off a new born at any specialized hospitals. In Illinois, you are given up to 30 days to drop your baby off at a fire
station, police station, or hospital. And the rule varies for each state.
