ANNOUNCEMENTS

Church-wide Breakfast On Sunday, December 22nd the youth will be serving a church-wide breakfast to share the Christmas spirit! There are multiple ways to give to those in need. Joining us will be the families of the 14 children we sponsor through the Angel Tree Prison Fellowship program. Many of you have supported them by buying gifts so that the children have a special memory this holiday. The youth will also be collecting nonperishable food items, such as iced tea and lemonade mix, winter clothing, gloves, hats, coats, etc., and Christmas toys for children to be distributed at the ESUMC community meals that are held Christmas week. All donations for the breakfast will go to the Salvation Army. If you need more information or would like help in any way, please contact Jenn Dunne at [email protected] or Scott Kuhnle at [email protected] Urgent Need for Ushers Christmas Eve 7pm Service We need several more ushers for the 7:00 p.m. service. We are also in need of 4 scripture readers for the 10 p.m. service. Please call or email Maria at the church office if you can help. Deadline to order Poinsettias is December 20th. Forms can be found on the tables in the Narthex, at the Welcome Desk, or can be downloaded from our website. Poinsettias are $7.00 each. As an alternative to purchasing a flower, memorial or honorarium donations can be given to UMCOR Disaster relief for victims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Christmas Stocking Stuffers Travel mugs with the ESUMC fish logo are available for purchase today and Sunday Dec. 22 in Fellowship Hall. At only $5 each, these goodlooking mugs make an excellent stocking stuffer or inexpensive gift. Stop by and check them out! Help Available for Every Member Committed Program In light of this being the first year our congregation with be making their commitments on-line, we are offering hands on assistance. SAVE THE DATE Older Kids 55+ Christmas Luncheon Our Christmas covered dish luncheon (originally scheduled for December 11th) was postponed due to inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 17th at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a favorite holiday dish to share, as well as a small, inexpensive wrapped gift for a Gift Exchange. That day we will also be collecting new pillows or pillow cases for the folks who attend the Monday Night Community Dinners. Any questions, call at 570-424-2455 or Erma Powell at 570-421-1422. Community Meal Ministry Community meal leaders are requesting pillows and pillowcases to give out as Christmas presents this year. Approximately 150 are needed. Upcoming Youth Ministry Events:

Upcoming Events for 2014 Mission Trip with ESU All ages are welcome to join together as we partner with East Stroudsburg University students on our third trip to Swan Quarter, North Carolina. The cost is $250 per person and includes food, transportation, and needed supplies. We will leave ESUMC on Sunday, January 5th and return Friday or Saturday (Jan 10/11). If interested or you would like more detail on this trip, please contact Mark Oney at [email protected] or 570-223-0155. Scholarships are available. College ages to senior citizens are welcome with any skill level. Registration deadline is December 14th. Skills for Better Parent-Child Relationships session will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Reeders United Methodist Chruch. This morning seminar will include Why Our Kids Misbehave, Tips for Restyling Our Parenting Choices, and Practice + Patience = Progress. The seminar Leader, Deb Mark, has over two decades of teaching, more than three decades of parenting, and has led multiple parenting classes for schools, churches and communities. Spring Adult Mission Trip The Spring Adult Mission trip is to Ocean City, NJ to help in the relief of Sandy. The cost is unknown at this time. We will be leaving Sunday afternoon on April 27 and coming back Friday, May 2nd or Saturday, May 3rd. MS Walk (Alternative) Mark your calendars for the next MS Alternative Walk for Sunday, May 4, 2014. Tom's Trekies will provide additional information in the coming months for the walk that will take place in Stroudsburg rather than traveling to Pocono Raceway. Thank you, Tom and Kathy Hinkey!

Youth Rally to Ocean City, MD: January 10 12, 2014 The youth rally is a trip for all 6th - 12th grade students. We join with thousands of other youth to fellowship, worship, and hear messages from professional Christian speakers. If you would like to sign up, please contact Scott Kuhnle ([email protected]). Tuesdays Kids Tuesdays Kids is an afterschool program for children in 2nd- 5th grade that meets on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00. Join us for fun and friendship. Registration is required for planning purposes, and permission slips must be filled out prior to participating.
