FEVER Planetary position: During the dasas of a debilitated Sun or weak Moon native suffers from fever, apart from loss of sight, brain diseases & leprosy. Saravali: During Budha sub-period of Kethu dasa & Rahu sub-period of Saturn dasa Fever & ill health, separation from near & dear, land related quarrels are indicated Propitiation: Karma Vipaka methods of propitiation 1. For diseases identified due to a debilitated Sun, relief can be brought about by chanting the mantra beginning Aagikrishnar gift of a cow and homa with twigs of Calatropis (Erukka), wearing a coral, bathing in water boiled milk Manayola, Cadnon, Devthaaran Kumkum, Irattinatharan, Raamachchanm, Pathunukham & hibiscus flowers. A paste made of same ingredients applied to the body, followed by a oath will also give relief. 2. Conditions related to weak Moon can be overcome by chanting the mantra starting, Imam deva, homa with plash twigs & gift of a conch. Royalty suffering from fever associated with a weak Moon, should take bath in water boiled with Panchagavyam, conch, quartz crystal (spatikam) and elephants Madha Jalam. They are advised to wear pearl and silver. 3. When conditions associated with Budha sub period in Kethu dasa, chanting of mantra starting with udbhudtaswa, homa with samitha of Kadalaadi are prescribed. They are advised to wear and gift gold for the same condition, for royalty, bath in water containing gomayam, Akshatham, Nehkka, Gorechanam, honey, pearl, pushkaramoolam and gold is prescribed. They should also wear gold. 4. In respect of fever caused by a badly positioned Saturn, the sages prescribe a bath in water boiled with Kaarellu, Anjanakhal, Paachotti tholi, Sadhakuppa. Mathanga Kizhangu and puffed rice. Sins of past life: According to Gargeya Maharshi 1) Harm done through thought and deed in previous janmas, visits us as fever in the present birth. For relief, it is suggested that one should repeat Jaatha Vedasa Mantra 108 times, do sahasra kalasabhishekam for Shiva and undertake Brahmin feeding.

2) Narrow minded people & those who indulge in sinful acts, suffer from Sheetha Jvaram (delirum) and will get cured by repeating Jaatha Vedasa Mantram ten thousand times in a state of purity of mind and body along with Sahasra Kalasabhishekam for Vishnu and feeding a hundred poor. A paste of meat and alcoholic drinks could also be consumed by the patient. The procedures are to be followed keeping in mind, what one can afford.

2. DIARRHOEA (ATHISAARAM) Astrological factors: Saravali: A person born with Mercury and Sun together in Capricorn or Aquarius is likely to suffer from Dysentery will be a glutton, intelligent, hard hearted and sweet tongued. During the sub period of Rahu in the mahadasa of Saturn, there is the possibility of wounds inflicted with weapon dysentery, closer contact with ones enemies and loss of wealth. Dysentery is also indicated when Moon, Venus and Mars are positioned in the 8th house (for propitiating the eighth house Venus, chanting and homa are indicated. For propitiating Mercury positioned in one of the Saturns houses, influenced by Sun, good deeds and gifts are suggested. For propitiating Mercury, chanting of Udbhudhasva Mantra, homa with gingely and kadalaadi twigs, gifting of gold, bath, reciting Ganayaakshaadabala Sarojan Mantra and gifting and wearing gold are prescribed. For Dysentery during Rahus sub period of Sanis Mahadasa reciting the mantra Kayaanarchuth homa with gingely and Karuga grass, gift of gold, Rajaavartham along with the previously mentioned propitiating measures for Saturn with bath and medicines like Asitha Tilaanjana Lodhra Balaabhi are indicated. Karma Vipakam: Mentions who has destroyed the three types of Agni. viz. Garhapathyaagni, Dakshnaagni, Aahavanyaagni or destroyed ponds will suffer from dysentery. Propitiation: According to sage Boudhaayana, a person suffering from dysentery should recite the mantra Agnirasmi 10,000 times and perform homa with gingely and ghee and make gifts of gold. A patient of dysentery, who is rich can get an image with the features given below of Agni made of one or half phalam of gold and ritually gift it to a Brahmin. The image should be of Agni riding on a goat, smeared with a paste of

Raktachandanam, clad in red apparel, adored with garlands of red flowers and pearls, glowing like a little golden hill, equally twelve suns in brilliance and purity. This image should be gifted to a Brahmachari with due respect. The Brahmachari must be steeped in penance, meditation and who regularly performs the Agnihotra rituals. He should be adored with clothing and a ring to the accompaniment of reciting the mantra Thretharupaagm. The patient will be cured of Dysentery and will live a long life free from ailments, blessed with health and happiness.

3. PILES Astrological factors: A native with Sun in Karkataka, aspected by Saturn suffers from piles, leprosy apart from being provocative, unkind and shameless and will have a life of sorrow. Propitiation: Chanting of the mantra beginning Aa Krishna and homa with gingely, twigs of calatropis (Erukku) & ghee with paayasam as offer depending on the severity of the affliction, wearing of coral, gifting of cow and bath as described previously are prescribed. Karma Vipakam: Persons who accept rewards for teaching chanting, conducting homas and for entertainment suffer from piles. Propitiation: Periods of abstinence and rituals for Shanti Ruchchchram, athi ruchchram or chandrayanam (one phase of the moon) and chanting oif Purusha Suktham, aadithyahrudayam and Sukthas like Agnivarnam. Depending on the severity of the ailment, a gift of gold and ghee can be made. If the patient is rich and the ailment is at a stage difficult to cure, the total family requirements must be gifted to a noble Brahmin, learned in Vedas and head of the family. This is prescribed in Brahma Geetha Vachana. Padma Puranam testifies that cow slaughter will lead to piles. A rich patient should gift a cow and perform home to the accompaniment of the chanting of Homasringi Roupya Gureem. Boudhayana has spoken about gifting of cows.

4. INDIGESTION (AJEERNAM) Astrological factors: Jupiter positioned in the third house results in sinful nature, habit of criticizing others, poverty, many sibling, life of separation from spouse and dull digestion or indigestion. Jupiter positioned in the sixth house is also indicative of indigestion, low manliness, critical nature, weakness and laziness, separation from spouse, victory over enemies and fame. Propitiation: chanting of mantra starting with Brihaspathe Athiyath homa with gingely, ghee and banyan twigs and gift of yellow apparel are prescribed procedures for propitiating Jupiter. Bath in water in which Pichchaka flower, white mustard, creeper Jasmines lender leaves and Irathinatharam have been soaked, wearing of Pushyaraaga or Pearl and offering of curd rice are also prescribed. Karma Vipakam: One who has stolen food will end up with indigestion. Propitiation is fasting for three days, chanting of mantra Agni Rasmi and homam with paayasam and ghee. It is also said that one who accepts food from a Brahmin who lives on interest earnings and does not obscure prescribed rites and rituals or accepts food from unclean person also suffered from indigestion. Propitiation for this is to observe fasting for three days and gifting to a householder Brahmin, learned in Vedas and of good character three phalas of pure silver and food materials. One who eats beef also suffers from indigestion. For this, sage Parasara prescribed recitation of Agni Suktham and Sri Suktham. One who caused death of poisoning a person will suffer from indigestion and may end up in a near fatal state. Propitiation according to Boudhayana is thorough recitation of Rudra Suktham 100,008 times and homam with ghee, payasam and other homa ingredients and feeding forty brahmins.

5. ANEMIA (PAANDU ROGAM) Astrological factors: Saturn posited in 8th house gives the native anemia, tuberculosis, life of sinful deeds and may sorrowful events. Propitiation is through good deeds, rites, chants and homa as previously indicated Moon posited in the sign Leo also will suffer from anemia, will have quick temper and limited issues, propitiation as above. Karma Vipaka: One who has stolen things belonging to God or Brahmin will suffer from anemia. Propitiation: Such a person should observe austerities for three and a half Chaandrayanam and perform Kooshmaanda homam and make gifts of gold. A person who has gone to bed with a chandaala woman will suffer from Paandu Good deeds like gifts and homam are to be done for propitiation. A replica in silver of earth with forests and mountains and surrounded by water, should be made of of 1 phalam of silver, covered with a white cloth and placed in a vessel made of 8 phalam of bronze and with a accompaniment of chanting mantras like Haripriyaaya Bhoodevi Yehyehe vasudha devi invoking the earth goddess, worshipped with incense and a homa performed by a learned pandit well versed in the scriptures, chanting mantras like Bhoomir Bhoomi, the idol should be gifted with mud at peace and with a contented face to a chenya by the patient standing in front of acharya at the accompaniment of the chanting of mantras like Dharthi Bhootanam. Such a gift will please mother earth and mitigate Pandu.

6. COUGH AND ASTHMA Astrological factors: The native been with Sun & Mercury in the sign of Cancer will be blind suffer from diseases related to Phlegm and Vaatham, will be eroded in his thirty and character. Propitiation is through chanting surya mantras (ditya Hrudayam, Gayathri) homam and gifts as prescribed earlier. Karma Vipakam: A man who is by nature unhelpful or is ungrateful, will suffer from afflictions related to phlegm, Pithan, breathing, in addition to fever and asthma.

Propitiation is through three chaandrayana Vrathams, chanting of mantra Agnidhootam 10,008 times, homam with sweetened rice and ghee and sweeptuously_________ feeding 50 brahmins. Propitiation can also be gifting of gold and red silk apparel and food to Brahmins and taking sahasra kalasa snaanam (bath) to the accompaniment of chanting Achyutaananda Govinda. Asthma & TB patients can propitiate Varuna, the rain God, by making replicas bedecked with emeralds of the Gods paasam and flag, putting them in a vessel placed in 80 Idangazhi of gingely, covering the vessel with a white cloth, worshipping with flowers and frankincense and chanting Namaha Paasa Brithe Thubhyam to please Varuna and Vaayu (wind God). The vessel is to be gi fted along with gold to a righteous Brahmin. This will mitigate breathing related afflictions and asthma and in addition bestow a life of happiness.

7. JAUNDICE (KAAMAALA) Astrological factors: Natives born in the Moon sub period & Shukra Mahadasa will suffer from afflictions, of the brain, mental agony jaundice afflictions due to disharmony in Vaatha human & bodily affliction such as jaundice can be propitiated by propitiating Moon, chanting of mantras, homa & having bath as prescribed before. Karma Vipaka: One who has stolen food will suffer from jaundice. Mitigation can be sought by gifting gold idol & Garuda as prescribed thereby propitiating Garuda.

8. BLEEDING DISORDERS (RAKTHA PITHAM) Astrological factors: A native with Mars in the house of Moon, i.e. Cancer (debilitated Mars) will suffer from Rakthapitham and will lead a sickly life. The sub period of Mars in the Mahadasa of Moon will bring in Rakthapittam, fever, afflictions of all organs and danger from fire & threate. Propitiation can be done by chanting mantras like Agni Moordh and homam with Gingely, ghee, karungali and venga, gift of red cow and bath in water medicated with koovalam, sandalwood, Kurun thotti, konna flower, chaayilyam, naazhal flower, elanji flower and Manji.

A person who had made and prescribed medicines against the principles of vaidya Shastra pretending to be a vaidya will suffer from rakthapitha rogam. Garuda Puranam prescribes a propitiation chanting of manthram Agni Dhootham Vrinee Mahe 10,008 times with sweet rice and ghee offered in oblation in the home fire.

8. TUBERCULOSIS (KSHAYAM) Astrological factors: Mercury and Moon together in one house will suffer from TB, itching ailment of the skin, fistula and fear from mounts like the elephant. For propitiating Mercury, mantra, japa & homa and other austerities are prescribed. The rules and regulations for propitiation in case of difficult to cure disease should be resorted to austerities observed for six years. One who craves for meat, who is greedy and grab property belonging to others, who is envious of the progress of others or who practices deceit on his matter on his land, will suffer from TB. Propitiation is as described above. 24 deserving persons should be fed in addition to homa with sweetened rice and ghee. Padma Puranam says that stealing of property leads to TB Boudhyaana has prescribed propitiation as follows:- gifting of a gold replica of a Kadali (banana plant) to a respectable, learned selfless and duty-conscious Brahmin, neutrally repeating (dhyana) the mantra, Hiranya Garba Brahmanda Purana prescribes a replica of patient to be gifted for mitigating TB with complication. In line with what one can afford, gifting of a replica of the patient made of gold or silver or precious stones to a Brahmin according to the prescribed regulations, neutrally repeating the mantra Yemam roga prabhaadande is advocated.

9. ALCOHOLISM Astrological factors: A native with Sun in one of the Mercurys houses & aspect by Jupiter is likely to be learned in scriptures, a world trotter kings counters, good looking and alcoholic.

For propitiation of this condition, the japa and homa prescribed earlier for pleasing Jupiter should be resorted to. Moon in Cancer, Taurus or Aries is likely to bestow the native with kindness, handsome looks, comforts, wealth and happiness. Moon in Lagnam makes a person ugly, deaf, dumb & alcoholic. Propitiation of the Moon so located can be done through japa and homa s previously prescribed. A native with Venus in Cancer is likely to be fond of women and drink and will consequently suffer from affliction arising from over indulgence, will have many defects and will lead a sad life. In this situation, Venus should be propitiated with the japas and homa as prescribed earlier. Karma Vipaka: Arrogance, haughtiness, stealing property belonging to others eagerness to enjoy prescribed things and teasing of old persons and teachers leads to insanity. Propitiation suggested is Chandraayana Vratham, homam with ghee and sweetened rice, and japa of Kayaanaschitra Suktham and gifts of gold and sweet materials. Japa of Saaraswatha Mantram is also prescribed.

10. EPILEPSY (APASMAARAM) Astrological factors: Saturn, Mars and Sun in 8th house in natal chart is likely to give various diseases including Epilepsy. All the three grahas should be propitiated through ritual bath, chanting, homa and daanam as prescribed earlier for relief from these afflictions. Karma Vipakam: A person who harms or displeases his Guru or his master is likely to suffer from epilepsy. As propitiation are prescribed Chandraayana vratham, chanting of mantras Sada Satpathi Adbhudham, homa with sweetened rice and ghee, worship of prostration before and gifts of gold to noble souls. Chanting of the sutra Kayaana Chitra Aabhuval is also prescribed.

The text also states that one who has killed a noble person by asphyxiation is likely to suffer from epilepsy. Activities like daanam and homam are prescribed as propitiating measures. A noble Brahmin, learned in the scriptures should be gifted with and idol of Vinayaka, made of 1, or 1/8 plalam of gold, after going through the rites of sacrifice and homa, to the accompaniment of chanting the mantra Vinayaka Prapannarthi Hora. Four Brahmins should also be given dakshina, according to ones mite. These austere measures will cure epilepsy and lead to happiness.

11. RHEUMATISM (VAATHAM) Astrological factors: A native with Sun in Cancer, aspect by Saturn will suffer from severe vaatha afflictions including rheumatism. The sub period of Kethu in the Mahadasa of Saturn is likely to produce the afflictions associated with vitiated Vaatha & Pitha & shift from ones place of residence. For propitiating Kethu chanting the mantra Kethum Krinnwan, japa & homa with gift of a goat & gold are prescribed. Saturn can be propitiated with baths like Asitha Thilaanjanam & other austerities as prescribed and wearing of the very special precious stone, rajaavartham. A native with Saturn aspect by Mars is likely to have vaatha afflictions like rheumatism & will be a world trotter, principled lowly & censorial. Saturn should be propitiated through the austerities as already prescribed. Karma Vipakam: One who is vengeful towards his guru (teacher) is likely to suffer from vaatha afflictions. The mantra Sannodevi occurring in Uma Maheswara Samvaadam should be chanted. Vaatha afflictions are likely to result from stealing of assets of a Brahmin or a temple or by harming ones master. As atonement, one should observe the Krischaadi Krischa Chaandrayana Vratham. As per Vaachaspathi, the Hruk Agni Rasmi should be chanted. Raping of unnamed virgins, who are strangers leads to unmanifested internal & manifested external vaatha afflictions, acute fever & extreme sorrow. This can be atoned through gifts of replicas of a she buffalo and chanting the mantra, Udyannadya.

12. TUMOR (GASTRIC FORMATIONS) Astrological factors: Moon flanked by malefics with Saturn in the 7th house is likely to suffer from tumours, abscess, asthama, TB and Spleen disorders. Moon and Saturn can be propitiated through homa, japa and other rites as previously prescribed. Karma Vipakam: One who makes an enemy of his guru, likely to be afflicted by vaatha vitiated gunnam (tumour). Mitigation can be sought through Payo vratham (austerity) for a month, chanting of the Munjaami Sukhtham ten thousand times, homa with sweetened rice and chanting of Vaatha Aavathu Beshajam. According to Boudhaayan, sex with a chandala woman will result in tumour. Mitigation is through gifting an idol of Ganesha to a Brahmin. A Ganesha idol made of gold, silver, copper, bronze or caltrops stem (Erukker) as prescribed, worshipped with dhoopam from Chandanam, akil and other fragrant substances should be gifted to a deserving brahmin, along with gold and good apparel, and chanting of suitable mantra.

13. HEART DISEASES (HRIDROGAM) Astrological factors: A native born with Saturn posited in the fourth house, will have a childhood afflicted heart disease, will suffer from mental agony, a _______ body & big nails. With Sun in Aquaries, the native will be prone to heart diseases, will be blessed with many male children, be easily moved to anger. Both Saturn in 4th house and Sun in Aquarius can be propitiated by homa, japa and other austerities. Karma Vipaakam: Those who have caused heart ache to others will suffer from heart diseases. As propitiation, one has to follow the Prajaapathya vidhi and those incapable of doing so, can resort to gifting of a cow and gold, chanting Udyannadhya Sukthm, Vishnu Sahasranaam and performing etc. Khooshmaanda homa.

14. DIABETES (PRAMEHAM) Astrological factors: A native born with Mercury with Suns aspect, posited in the houses of Jupiter (Dhanu and Meena) will turn out to be courageous, have a calm mind but diabetic. Propitiation of Mercury is to be done by undertaking the rites prescribed earlier. Karma Vipaaka: One who has carnal relations with a young virgin is likely to suffer from diabetes associated with vaatam. Three rounds of Chaandrayana Vratham and gifting of self image (prathiroopam) are prescribed as propitiating measures. One who has crnal relations with his mother or sister will develop into a diabetic; one who has such relations with his brothers wife will develop jalameham and one who has such relations with a pregnant woman will develop Ikshumeham. Propitiation for such atrocious and abominable acts can only be through rites and rituals of a very intense kind. One who cannot undertake such acts of repentance can observe three cycles of Krishschra Vratham and feast forty Brahmins daily and chant Purusha Suktham, Sahasranaamm and Gayathri, perform homam with ghee and other essentials, to the chant of Rudra Suktham 108 times. One who has carnal relations with a chandala woman will suffer from all types of meharoga, be helpless with unquenchable thirst and insatiable hunger. Chanting of the mantra ida maapaha pravatho uththamam varuna and homa, will help in such cases.

According to Vayu Purana prescription Brahmana Swarna Hareecha Pramehi Jaayathe Dhruvam one who has stolen from a Brahmin, his possessions is likely to develop all types of Prameham. Gifting of n image of a cow, fasteoned in gold,

15. STOMACH AILMENTS Astrological factors: A native born with Moon in the sign of Leo is prone to dental and stomach ailments, will suffer from excessive thirst and hunger and will be a misogynist & will suffer from acute colic. A native with Moon posited in 6th house will also suffer from stomach ailments and will have low digestive power, will be tired from over-activity. Ailments of the throat, stomach and eyes, insanity, suffering and sorrow are most likely during Suns sub-period of the mahadasa of sukra as also during the subsub-period of weak Moon. The side effects of such a Moon can be mitigated by the earlier prescribed japa and homa, pleasing to the Moon. Karma Vipaka: One who creates confusion by proclaiming the unique greatness of one among Shiva, Vishnu & Brahma is likely to suffer from stomach ailments. Observance of Krishchraadi Krishchra Vratham, Sahasra Kalasabhishekam for Siva, chanting the Rik Udyannadya the thousand times and gifting of honey mixed with ghee or gifting of gold dipped in the mixture is prescribed for mitigating rites. One who has been engaged as a judge or minister, to administer law and justice by ones leader and who stays from his duties is likely to suffer from jalacharam. Mitigation is by observing paya vratham, performing sahasra kalasabhishekam for Mahadeva or feeding of hundred Brahmins. One who has carnal relations with his preceptors wife is likely to suffer from Jaladaram according to Padma Purana. Three cycles of chaandraayana vratham will mitigate this condition. Boudhayana advises that patients of stomach ailments should gift a prototype crocodile, which should be fastioned as prescribed. 1, 2 or 3 phalam of silver or copper, anointed with a paste of Akil and sandal wood, draped in blue cloth and gifted to a righteous Brahmin, accompanied by prescribed mantra. This will cure all stomach ailments.

16. LEPROSY (KUSHTAM) Astrological factors: A native born with Sun and Rahu or the Sun, Rahu and Mars in the eighth rasi is likely to suffer from leprosy. Kings, in their Mars dasa are likely to be disease prone and develop enemies and suffer from leprosy & blood disorders. A native with Venus, Sun and Saturn in one Rasi is likely to develop leprosy. A native with the Sun posited in a house of Mars and aspected by Venus is likely to develop leprosy and will be poor with few relatives & may enemies. A native with the Sun posited in Leo and aspected by Venus is likely to suffer from dysentery and leprosy. The planets are to be propitiated, by japa and homa appropriated to the individual planets as prescribed earlier. Karma Vipaka: One who hurts animals is likely to be leper and one who has stolen clothes is likely to develop Leucoderna. Propitiation is through the observance of Krishchra Chandraayana vratham. One who has made another into labour is likely to suffer from leprosy with his face affected most. Propitiation in such cases is through observance of adikrishchra vratham. One who has hurt animals lower in the evolutionary scale, is likely to suffer from a discolored face. The prescribed propitiation is Chaandrayana vratham. According to the Vaayu puram, one who steals others wealth is likely to become a leper. Propitiation is through the gift of a bulls image, reputed to cure all types of leprosy and the bulls image should be made according to rules prescribed.

17. AFFLICTION OF THE HEAD Astrological factors: Diseases of the head and throat are likely to cropping during Subdasa of Venus in the Suns Mahadasa. Similarly, during the subdasa of Saturn in the maha dasa of Sukra.

Propritiation to please the individual planets is through japa, homa and other rituals, already prescribed. During the subdasa of Mars in Mercurys Mahadasa, many diseases are likely. Mars is to be propitiated through rituals prescribed earlier. Karma Vipaka: One who has harmed his preceptor is likely to be afflicted by diseases of the head. As propitiation, medicines, prescribed in medicinal treatises should be gifted. Anticipating death, a brahmachari who, in a previous birth had given up food and had stopped performing his daily rituals, is likely to suffer from afflictions of the head in the current birth. Propitiation is through recitation of the rik Udyannaadya feeding of fifty Brahmins and performing Kooshmaanda homam. According to Naradeeya Puranam, a brahmachari, who has taken food in a broken bronze vessel, in his previous birth is likely to suffer from disease on one side of his head in his current birth. Propitiation is through recitation of the Akshibhyan Sooktham 108 times and homa with ghee and paayasam and gifting of a golden sacred thread to a Brahmin. A sacred thread made of one or half or one quarter of a phalam of gold, according to ones mite, an upper cloth (uthareeyam) woven of golden threads, after worship with a ring to the accompaniment of prescribed mantra should be gifted to a Brahmin.
