idden in the heart of the forest lies a log cabin park that has enough tranquillity to spend 48-hours for a quick fix of fun. We spent two nights at Sherwood Hideaway and stayed in one of the three-bedroom VIP lodges, complete with balcony hot tub. The lodge itself was very modern and had luxurious furnishings, from French style blinds to fitted wardrobes and plush bedding. The luxurious retreats, nestled in Sherwood Forest on the Thoresby Estate, are perfect for that chilled-out get together with a loved one, family or friends, stripping back to the very core of life. With just 12 wooden lodges on site, there is ample space and ambience to enjoy the countryside while being spoilt with the lavish lifestyle of boutique living. Theres a choice of traditional or contemporary dcor in the highly specified lodges, which have either two or three double/ twin bedrooms. The Sherwood Hideaway designers have selected beautiful Porcelanosa tiles, Mulberry and Designers Guild fabrics to complement beautiful and individual mirrors, headboards, crockery and decorations, making each lodge a modern and stylish retreat.
HIDEAWAY: The lodge is very modern and has luxurious furnishings child on a bear hunt. Or if youd rather watch the world go by, why not pour a glass of bubbly and pop into the hot tub overlooking the forest, or wait until the stars light up the night sky for a real eye opening experience by moonlight. But dont let the wintry weather put you off from sampling the hot tub, the clue is in the name so you need not be cold outside. We got caught in a rainstorm but sheltered under the alcove the raindrops didnt ruin our experience. Over in a flash and it was back to the bubbly and power jets. The people staying in the neighbouring lodge must have thought we were mad but the best part of a rural retreat is knowing that the skys the limit. Dont forget to pack that favourite DVD for an evening of fine homecooked dining in the state-of-the-art kitchen followed by snacks on the sofa, settling down by the cosy wood burning stove. Or for those who prefer to be waited on, visit the Thoresby Hall Hotel to eat in one of its dining rooms. Later, unwind with a relaxing bath using the complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. Theres no better feeling than going to bed and having a great nights sleep, and waking in your own time to have as much or as little for breakfast depending on your appetite. Taking food supplies with you can be a bit of a chore, especially if you have to keep things refrigerated for the journey but you can easily stock up at the nearby Tesco supermarket which is less than a five-minute drive away, perfect solution for those oh no weve run out moments. For a professional spa experience the WorldSpa at Thoresby Hall Hotel is situated within Thoresby Park. It offers an indulgent range of beauty and wellbeing treatments for men and women and a contemporary sanarium. Guests can enjoy a relaxing swim or unwind in the Ice Room, Aromatherapy Cave or Hydration Room. Theres a discount for The Sherwood Hideaway guests when they use the spa. Thoresby Park also boasts its own art gallery and Victorian Courtyard with craft and boutique shops, military museum and caf the perfect place for a relaxed browse or to snap up some holiday gifts.

The lodges reminded me of a beach house similar to those featured on Australian soap opera Home & Away, but the home from home facilities are fantastic what ever the British weather. Theres plenty of fun and games to be had nearby in Nottinghamshire, with a selection of activities such as mountain biking, picnicking, archery, or maybe just the thrills of exploring whats around you like a
