6th AFRICAN UNION COURSE ON GENDER-RESPONSIVE ECONOMIC POLICY- MAKING IN AFRICA


AFRICAN UNION (AU) AND UN INSTITUTE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND PLANNING (UN IDEP)
A PARTNERSHIP FOR CAPACITY BUILDING IN AFRICA 7th - 18th February 2012. The Women Gender and Development Directorate is pleased to announce the 6th Course on Gender Responsive Economic Policy Making in Africa .The course will be held from 7th to 18th February 2012 in the African Union Commission Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 2 weeks of intensive training in the field of gender and economic policy making in Africa will be held in English. Course aims to assist African Member States in improving and increasing their conceptual understanding as well as practical skills to mainstream gender concepts and tools and increasing the capacity of national development personnel with regard to gender policy analysis in order to promote gender responsive economic policies for the economic and social development of the Continent. The course targets 20 participants from Ministries of Gender, Finance and Economy of Member States, mainly university graduates, high-level planners and decision makers within their respective Ministries. A well-conceived programme tailored to the needs of African development planners and practitioners and based on modern training requirements. Skillfully selected modules encompassing new theoretical and practice tools for integrating gender into economic policy in Africa. Highly qualified and experienced resource persons. Innovative teaching and evaluation methods. Expected outcomes, which will surely open new vistas in professional career development. Real opportunity for the acquisition and improvement of methods and tools for integrating gender into economic policy-making and implementation in Africa. A definite added value, which will make it possible to understand and address gender in economic policy in Africa.
