INSTALLATION
Installation:
Hose Length and Float Location
1- Assemble enough hose sections to reach the farthest point away from the connection point, and then add one more section. 2- Position the hose float on the first hose section, about 9 inches from the cleaner head
INSTALLATION
Installation:
Cleaner Head
1- Remove Flow Gauge. 2- Submerge the cleaner in the pool. 3- When bubbles stop coming out of the head, lock the cleaner into position on the blue quick connect to the hose. 4- Allow the cleaner to drift to the bottom of the pool so that the tracks are flat on the pool surface.
DISASSEMBLY
Disassembly:
Removing the Cover
3- Grasp the top cover while holding the cleaner body of the cleaner down securely.

5- To further break down the engine you can remove the bearings and shafts.
6- There are also four internal engine bearings (not seen). You can check these bearings by making sure the paddles are free to rotate 90 degrees.
Important! When replacing the bearings be sure to line up the key on the engine bearing with the tab on the engine.
Ensure the edge of the bearing is flush with the outside edge of the gray engine hub.

Operation:
Cleaner Movement
While observing the MX8 Cleaner, it is crucial to understand that each cleaner has a dynamic, or unique pattern created by the Directional Control Devices (DCDs). The following shows the timing of the DCDs. 1- The cleaner timing cycle repeats approximately every 30 minutes. 2- There are 12 long runs of between 30 and 40 seconds.
3- There are 5 full reverses of approximately 4, 5, 6, 9, and 15 seconds. (Not in that order).
4- There are 5 overlapping turns that will produce short duration full reverses of about 1 to 2 seconds.
Troubleshooting:
1- Clean skimmer(s), filter pump basket, and filter. 2- Confirm returns are facing down to the pool bottom 3- Confirm proper installation: Main Drain Closed Hose Length & Float Location are correct Pool Connection is tight Flow (use Flow Gauge to confirm) Cleaner Connection. 4- Check for debris jammed in the engine. 5- Check for air in the system by looking at the pump basket while running. If there is a drop in the water level, or excessive bubbles are present, there maybe an air leak. Check hose connections, tighten all fittings and check o-ring at the pump.
Note: In some pools where the cleaner either doesnt climb the walls or it comes out of the pool, the flow may need to be adjusted from the factory recommendations. First confirm proper float location and adjusting the flow as needed by watching the cleaner movement for 5 to 10 minutes.
