Abbreviated Dialing (ABBD)

1 Denition
The Abbreviated Dialing (ABBD) feature enables a subscriber to create an individual abbreviated dialing list and store this list in the network node. Each directory number in the list is assigned an abbreviated directory number. The abbreviated dialing list can contain internal, national and international directory numbers. The network node automatically converts this to the full directory number when establishing the connection. GeoCENTREX-specific A GeoCENTREX abbreviated dialing list can be used individually by a single subscriber, or it can be made available to several subscribers jointly.

2 Mode of operation
In Abbreviated Dialing (ABBD), a one or two-digit number replaces a full number of up to 24 digits. Directory numbers and feature codes can be replaced by an abbreviated number. It is also possible to store parts of a directory number under an abbreviated number. The network node automatically converts the desired abbreviated directory number to the appropriate full directory number when establishing the connection. In the case of partial abbreviated dialing, there is no dial tone between the abbreviated number and the supplementary number. The subscriber must dial the supplementary number immediately after the abbreviated number without being requested to do so. Types of abbreviated dialing lists A subscriber can use the following abbreviated dialing lists: Individual abbreviated dialing list An individual list contains the abbreviated numbers that may be used by a particular subscriber, and shows the full directory numbers to which they are allocated. It can only be used by one particular subscriber. This subscriber is the only one that can enter new directory numbers and modify or delete existing entries in the list. Shared abbreviated dialing list Several different subscribers (members) can share one list, but only one particular subscriber (master) can enter new directory numbers and modify or delete existing entries in the list. The authorized subscriber is allocated either: an individual list a shared list an individual list and a shared list Abbreviated dialing lists can be entered, modified, checked and canceled by the subscriber or by the operator. At PBX level, subscriber input is only possible via a master line. Master lines are access lines specially designated by the administration. Allocation ranges for abbreviated numbers The operator decides whether 1-digit and/or 2-digit abbreviated dialing lists are allowed. If a subscriber is assigned two abbreviated dialing lists, the number ranges must not overlap. For each subscriber, abbreviated numbers are allocated to full directory numbers according to a strict system (project-specific). The digit lists can, for example with 2-digit abbreviated lists, be allocated for one of the following ranges: max. 10 max. 20 max. 30 : max.100 2-digit abbreviated numbers 2-digit abbreviated numbers 2-digit abbreviated numbers : 2-digit abbreviated numbers 00, 01...09 00, 01...19 00, 01...29 : 00, 01...99

3 Subscriber controlled input

The feature can be administrated and used by subscriber controlled input. For the subscriber procedure, see: Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber GeoCENTREX Analog subscriber ISDN subscriber Subscriber controlled input functions Signaling method Analog Pulse Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Enter data and activate Delete data and deactivate Activate with/without data Feature use Status request Data request Status request with/without data Access code The access code for subscriber controlled input consists of a maximum of 6 characters or, for GeoCENTREX subscribers, a maximum of 5 characters. It can be formed from the symbols 5 , # and the service code (SC) with the digits 0 to 9. The operator can specify the character strings for the access code. ----X X ------X --X --DTMF ----X X ------X --X --ISDN Keypad ----X X ------X --X --Funct. -----------------------

Differences by pulse dialing The selected digits are not obligatory; other digits can be input (depending on the existing numbering plan). 1111 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 1112 at the beginning of an input in place of # 1113 at the beginning of an input in place of 5 # 5 as a disconnecting signal after the service code, not relevant # after the subscriber controlled input, not relevant Acknowledgments after subscriber controlled input The following tones, announcements and display texts are examples and can be administrated by the operator. The display texts can be changed to suit individual projects. The subscriber controlled input can be acknowledged by: Tones ringing tone acceptance tone subscriber busy tone or number unobtainable tone (NU) Announcements subscriber controlled input successful subscriber controlled input unsuccessful feature is already activated feature is not activated feature is not available wrong input Display texts (only in ISDN) wrong input not authorized request rejected successful unsuccessful not available
