1. Check the depth of cantilever beam for adequate of controlling deflection, if effective depth = 550mm, effective span = 4.75m, Pt=1%, grade steel = 250 (2 Marks) 2. RCC beam of size 250mm x 500mm with concrete grade M20 & Fe-415 and effective cover of 50mm on both the sides to resist the moment of 400KN-m. State whether the beam is design as a doubly or singly reinforced section. (2 Marks) 3. Design a doubly reinforced beam with effective depth 600mm & the width 300mm of beam to resist the factored moment of 425 KN-m. Use effective cover of 50mm and 40mm in tensile and compression zone respectively. Use M-20 & Fe-415. (7 Marks) 4. Design a singly reinforced beam with effective depth twice to the width of beam to resist the bending moment of 150KN-m, use M-20 & Fe-415. (7 Marks) 5. For balance section 350mm x 550mm effective. Determine the total compression, area of tension steel and limiting moment if M-20 & fe-415 is used. (7 Marks) 6. Calculate the factored moment for T-beam having width of flange=1500mm, overall depth of beam=650mm,width of web= 300mm, flange thickness= 100mm, Beam reinforced with 6 no of 28 mm dia bars and 2 no of 22mm dia effective cover 50mm, M20 & Fe- 415 is used.(7 Marks) Er. 7. A singly reinforced R.C.C. beam having rectangular cross section of size 250mm 500mm overall is reinforced with 4nos.- 20 mm diameter bars with clear cover 20mm. Find total factored bending moment resisted by the beam. Use M20 grade of concrete and Fe 415 grade of steel. (7 Marks) 8. A singly RC beam of size 320 mm x 560 mm is reinforced with 4 22 mm diameter bars at an effective cover of 40 mm. Determine superimposed load the beam can carry if it is simply supported on 6.4 m span. Use M20 concrete & Fe415 steel. (7 Marks) 13. A beam simply supported over an effective span of 7 m carries a live load of 20 KN/m. Design the beam, using M-20 concrete and HYSD bars of grade Fe-415.
